Something Nasty in the Woodshed
Live at
The Greystones
Greystones Road, Sheffield
Saturday 21st May 2011
You have never seen folk like this! The outstanding Something Nasty in the Woodshed play their debut headline show in Sheffield this May at The Greystones...
One of the finest bands on the folk-festival circuit combine highland bagpipes, mandolin, guitars and drums to create a titanic mix of traditional and original songs, delivered with style and downright tap-along, sing-along - heck, jump-along - exuberance.
Something Nasty in the Woodshed deliver a potent mix of drum-driven electric and acoustic instruments with the emotive sound of the great highland bagpipes. Taking the jigs and reels from the attic of their ancestors and plugging them into the national grid, and a mix of self-penned storybook songs and revamped traditional themes, their gut-punching sound has captivated audiences wherever they have played. Their following grows and grows and by the end of each set the audience is often louder than the band! One of the finest festival bands on the folk-festival circuit play their Sheffield headlining debut at The Greystones.
“The band's pulsing electric sound gets one of the main stage's biggest reactions of the day…" Spiral Earth (UK Folk & Roots Ely Festival)
"What a night! They helped make that Sunday night the best night in Moor & Coast history." Chris Roper (Moor & Coast Festival)
"Something Nasty blew the audience away with their high energy folk-rock performance and by popular demand, are invited back next year." Mike Kirrage (Gate to Southwell Festival)
Entry to a show as good as this for the price of a couple of pints? You've got to be kidding... Not to be missed!
