We're looking to move to a house that has district heating.
Does anyone know anything about this?

My main question is, does this cover heating and water? Because we will need a new cooker and I don't know whether to get gas or electric, I obviously don't want to get gas if then that ends up being the only thing we're connected to gas for as the heating and water would be covered in the scheme!

:help:

I, myself know nothing about "district heating", and I did a Google anyway....Google Search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rls=GGLG%2CGGLG%3A2005-42%2CGGLG%3Aen&q=%22district+heating%22+SHEFFIELD&btnG=Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB)

Normally the scheme includes all hot water and heating.
It also includes breakdown cover as a bonus which is usually very swift repairs.

Downside you cannot normally alter the radiators in any way and should you ever want to disconnect if you buy then they have a charge of around 500 - 750 pounds for disconnection (which is actually just a couple of pipes to disconnect.

Further advice on request based on past experiance of these systems.

The flats I live in are district heating which means you have constant heating and water 24 7. The radiators or on thermostats so yo can adjust them. I pay around a extra £7 for this that I think works out quite good. If you need any more info please PM.:)

Thanks Bikertec and Nucad, I guess it's an electric cooker then!
