I have been paying 90p for a single journey into town since i arrived at Sheffield (i'm a uni student).
After the price rise the fare increased to £1.50!!! I explained to the driver that this made no sence, how could the fare increase by 2/3? He explained that the 90p fair should never have been given at my stop and was further down the route.

Has anyone else experienced this? Have First sneakily changed the stops/retrained their bus drivers on where the stops are!?

I could have accomodated a fare rise of the advertised 90p to £1, but an increase of 60p on a 90p fair is rediculous. I dont relly on the bus so its not too much of a big deal for me, just a bit of a pain.

But, saying that, now that i cant afford the bus so often i shall get more exercise!

Well its got to the stage where its cheaper for me to take the car so thats what I will do.. Sod you First you conning <enter choice of word here>'s :D

And unless absolutely necessary I'm walking to town and may do so on my return. Big benefits for me; saves £3 which goes straight back in my pocket and at least 45 minutes walking (including going around town).

when on earth did they go that high ,last time i was in sheffield you could go long way for Tu'pence on tram car, we could always cadge a penney with the old lost my tram fare story.

I dont know where you got the information in relation to First moving the stops,total fiction as the stops belong to SYPTE and no drivers were retrained as to the location of these so called new stops.This info must have come from a man in a pub.

The 90p fair has gone up to £1.00 and not £1.50 reading into you're post it seams that you have more than likely been over riding for some time.
Now you no longer get away with it you feel that you have been hard done to!.

aye typical tight wad student - think they can live for nothing off the backs of others - that 60p that you've been dodging matey could have funded the champagne for the First directors board meeting :)

I think they only have the best champagne as well as the other ideas they have are usually worked out on the back of used fag packets LOL

not only that, the busses are getting worse....

they dont keep to the time table, routes that dont need it, have "One every 6 minutes" and routes that are really busy are "One Every 10 mins" --- and whats worse, the "One every 10" take forever, and either dont come, or you get 3 together... its ridiculous...

they fill up in town, so any stops just out of town have no chance of even getting on one of them, so they end up waiting even longer...

SORT YOUR BUSSES OUT FIRST!!! OR YOULL END UP "LAST!!"

he asked a question, "HAVE first moved blah blah blah" and you answer it like he made a statement that was untrue.

Same here, it is now cheaper to go into town in my car with my partner and pay to park for two/three hours than it is to get the bus.

I rarely bothered with them anyway and if I did it was at night so I could have a drink, it's now only a quid extra to get a taxi from where I live so I know what I'll be doing from now on.

Ok point taken,,still waiting for new glasses,,,lol

But no First havent moved any bus stops or retrained any drivers to know where the new stops are.

Maybe First SY should learn from First Leeds and be open with its customers and put its fares book on its web pages.
Its the same with Christmas/New Years Eve early finish times why do we have to ring traveline or go into PTE travel centres... again be open with its customers instead of vague ... early finish from 1800HRS

I dont know but i read a poem on a mainline bus tuther day that went something like this:

single to town mate said the offender
a ten pound note he did tender
even though it was only a 50p fare
it was ok he was a big spender

it was taking the p**s out of people who pay with notes but they need to get their poem right its never been a 50p fare to town, the cheek of it!!!!
