NO,NO,NO!!! What a daft idea, who the heck other than a masochist would want to do that?

It might sound like a good idea, but have you never seen a movie that features desert island life? Everyone goes insane!

Seriously, I can see the appeal of a tropical island but personally I would much rather choose a modern, city life. I'd get bored very quick on an island.

I'd love to......as long as I can come back some time.

And I had loads of fishing gear!

Personally I'd very much like to live on a deserted island. Should The Mighty Dollar favour me at any point then I will certainly be looking into the possibility of settling down in a quiet cabin somewhere, nestled into the side of a tropical montane, perhaps, or on a small jungle island with a diverse ecosystem.

Of course, I couldn't be completely alone, so I'd hope that my lover (or lovers) would join me there. What pleasure we would know in our solitude...

This probably deserves its own thread, but if you could be stranded on a Desert Island with any celeb, who would it be and why?

My pick would be either Carla Bonner (Steph) or Holly Valance (Flick) off Neighbours, leaning more to Flick as she's younger  (And I would lean over to her as well ;) )

Does the island have an internet source so we can keep in touch with the forum?

Doubt it, there'd be nowhere to plug a PC in much less a modem to get online.

so is it seriously just me that gets bored of modern life, where you work half the day, an your most day to day tasks are which society causes, e.g fashion, hair styles, etc please say if this makes no sense to you, im not saying living on a deserted island would be excellent, but neither is work, pub, sleep routine. also you wont have any stress because your main purpose would be surviving no other problems, like the show lost.

I agree. Even holidays nowadays are full of stress anyway.

I'd go tomorrow mate!
seriously though, If you want to leave the stresses behing why not go and do some voluntary work on a farm abroad, or fruit picking or something like that. The pay isn't great, but you often get a nice place to stay, all your meals and a tan. All you'd have to worry about is your plane ticket.
I'm thinking of buggering off myself next summer and I don't wanna come back.

Don't know about a deserted Island...I like it fine just here. Perhaps in some area of the peaks and moors?

With four kids from 17 to 3 and a Boxer Dog and a bloke I run around after, I have often thought of doing a Shirley Valentine which is just walkng off and getting on a plane somewhere leaving everything behind and trying a different more layed back lifestyle for a few months.

Wouldn't mind a desert island for a little while but being a bored housewife I'd miss my Telly and my Soaps. God what a dull life I lead!!

Moral of this story - have your fun before you get tied down with commitments! :(
