just a question.. I went out and couldnt resist buying some baubles today.. kind of looking forward to trimming up.

So when should I put up my tree.

When is it acceptable and you dont look like the only lunatic on the block?

It's not bad luck to put it up BEFORE the 12th but it's bad luck to leave it any later than 12th night.
Being a superstitious sort I checked this thoroughly:D .

If youre feeling all Chritmassy already then wang that tree up and trim it with all the lights and baubles you can lay hands on , it's my favourite time of year as well and the longer we can keep it going without it being too weird the better!!

When you put your tree up so early dont you get sick of the sight of it by Christmas day? I do. If I put it up too early I cant even be bothered to put the lights on by Boxing day.

Im feeling more christmassy now.

So the challange is whoever puts their tree up has to post a piccy of the finished article when its done.

We can have a sf tree trimming competition.

Prizes for:

The Biggest
The gaudiest (is that a word?)
The most contemporary
The weediest
The earliest

:D

We always but our decorations and tree up on 6th December, something to to with the religious calender, don't know what.

Then down on 6th January.

We have a particularily garish tree with red bows all over it.

Well, as my wife's birthday is on the 14th, and my sons on the 16th December, ours has never gone up much before 18th, sometimes just before Xmas. Don't want the gloss taking of their big days.

Don't put mine up till around the 20th of December. If you have no kids and put them up any earlier, you'll have people thinking you actually like Christmas, or are some other certifiable nutcase.

I always like to put mine up the first weekend of December !!

I will most probably put it up on Friday 2nd December as I'm working the Saturday but am having Friday off!!

I used to put it up mid-month but since I had children it seems nicer for them to have the tree up from the start of their advent calanders etc

I hate it when people put their christmas lights up this early!! I'm no scrouge and love christmas but its still November!! I think anything before december 10th is way too early. We put ours up around the 12th and always have even as children.

Just my opinion

Lots of houses have put them up down in Parson Cross one house didn't take the outside lights down from last year.

Dad did my Parents home while my little sis was out.... Think he did it on Sunday... Eeee dear, you should have heard the commotion when she found out! She went ballistic! lol!

Me... Well, I'm not excited about it this year... I'm just miffed that I didn't get first pickings of the chockies on the tree! lol

Does your house echo when the tree disappears? But doesn't seem to the rest of the year

Every year we put the tree up on the 8th cos it's my sisters birthday, but I'd much prefer to put it up earlier (start of December sounds fine to me).... especially since this year my sister doesn't want to celebrate Christmas
