I wonder if any of our members could advise me whether it is advisable to have two Anti Virus programs running on the computer at the same time for piece of mind etc.
I have the Blueyonder Security suite installed at the moment.

Thanks.

I have heard its best to only have one, but I could be wrong, I would like to know this as well. I currently have just the one running all the time.

I installed the pcguard from BY and it seems to work pretty well. From my experience its not advisable to run two anti virus at the same time. :)

Running 2 anti virus can not really work, unless one is a basic file checking only, and one is an all-in thing...

the reasons for this is mostly the email scanner, if you use outlook or something, most virus checkers "hijack" your mail when you check it, and scan for viruses before it lets you see it... Running 2 checkers, they would both attempt a hijack, and it could confuse them both..

Similar things could happen with downloads, and any files/zips you open...

But my question is, why would you ever want, or need 2 any ways?

I did run two once,,,why I dont know.

However one Antivirus would alway detect the other one as a Virus and visa versa.

so one is a good idea.

Just use 1 only...chances are by running 2 you will leave your system less protected :loopy:

yeah best of just running one or they may conflict and cause problems and may stop them from detecting and sorting out viruses
