Does anyone know how much it would cost to have an old style boiler (a bit like a very old fashioned combi boiler) taken out, a new one put in and three radiators put in a flat.
A really rough idea on price would be fine as I haven't got a clue!!

I'd hazard a guess at £1100 - a new decent combi boiler would be £700 to £800!!

its difficult to corectly price up a new combi without seeing the exisiting site. A decent condensing combi boiler would set you back approx £800 - £1000, i'd estimate £150 or so for 3 standard rads. Its the labour cost that might bump it up slightly depending on whats involved in ripping out the old boiler and siting the new rads.

Stay away from anyone advertising a heating system for £1500 all in. Get a few quotes and compare.

Remember that boilers are like cars - some are very reliable and some are not. Try and go for a make such as Valliant, Worcester-Bosch, Veissmann.

its just cost me £2,400 to have new boiler put in
because we had old pipe work that didnt comply with the new regulations

I think there is a way to get the government to pay something towards your new combi boiler, it's something to do with energy efficiency.

I'm not surprised. This is why its useful to get a few quotes and compare. Only when a gas fitter comes to look around will you get a rough idea. The new building regs and gas regs state what you can and can't do and this may mean extra work and cost. The new rule is to replace old combis with new energy saving condensing boilers. You can't always site these where the old boiler was!!

I'm not sure what you got for £2400, hopefully a top class boiler with service warranty, and trouble free for many years to come.
