Do you mean Granelli's Balcony Bar??

Oohh, many's the saturday I've spent up there, with my then best friend, Linda, watching the lads *coff* sorry, I meant World go by.....

The saturday morning tradition..

Go to the Minors' Matinee, at the ABC Cinema (for the young-uns amongst us, that was the Cinema which stood where the travelodge, Angel Street is now)

After the Minors' Matinee, we'd slip across the road to the Sheaf Market, and go upstairs to the balcony bar, and sit nursing a glass of cola and a chip butty.

lol

Ahh happy, and innocent days.

Sorry, Kirky, I should have made that clearer,

I meant

"inevitable" as in, all the lads got the knock-back off'n me and my mate, back then.

Don't think anyone can grumble if they get to go to the lane all the time, and spend hours on end in the pub with the hubby??

YES!!

what a cafe, looking out over granelli's broken biscuit stall, and the smell of the cottage-toilets wafting up from below!

loved the roof of that place; i made a video in there in 1986 with the unemployed centre (steve jinks), interviewing people about life on benefits! and i always remember the roof looking really good on screen, a bit like the structure of rotherham market's roof today.

i think they should pull down whatever they're building on the site of sheaf market, and expose the remains of the rag 'n' tag
