Been told the new ponds at Aston ponds have em.
I have fished the Ebro in spain for them my biggest was a 98lb albino, pure white sadly it rolled over and died when it was returned to the river.

ive heard aston and bradleys have em but i just wana confirm it by someone who as eitha caught one, or knows someone that has. bet that 98lb put a nice fight up, a shame it died tho. i wana go to thialand and fish monster lake, full of big fish like aripima, red tail cats etc

Its a bit of a drive from sheffield but i used to fish messingham sands near scunny for cats, best i had was 28lb, also willow bank which is just down the road from messingham.

yes they is a big one in new pond at aston you need some good tackle to get it out tho

my mate caught a catfish at aston last summer whilst fishing method feeder for carp, it was 24lb. and bob which pond at messingham has cats in as ive never heard anyone mention them.

Bradleys has two cats for certain,but there is no night fishing there.this can make getting the big gals out a tad hard fish fish meal boileys or lobworms hard on the bottom.Or a pop up boiley just under the surface.Like all big fishing could be a task that will take all summer but well worth it in the end.

Cheers for suggestions fellas, think im guna try bradleys this weekend, i wer guna use hallibut pellets or lobworm. Ive made sum nice rigs to keep worms a couple of inch of bottom, to stop them tryin to bury into silt. I no cats feed better at night but i might fall lucky early morning or evening at bradleys

belive me azzbo,if you hook into one of the 40's in bradleys you will wipe every other angler on the lake out.get to spain mate go with cat master tours they gurantee you a fish of 100lb or you get a free hol,but this only applys on certain months.i been brilliant had 6 100's in 5 days.the frence rivers have nice cats in too fished em for carp but night fishing is banned on near all the rivers.My arm was that bad when i got back i had to have a week of work they dont harf hang on has matty says.hopeing to get on luke moffits pond sometime soon been on waiting list for 2 year so might be this year hope so.............tyke

i'm back on the ebro at the end of april. we stay with an ex-sheffield couple who've been over there for 15 years. they have a converted farm house on the river bank with their own boat. the cats we catch are leaner than the pellet-bellied ones caught from around caspe and mequinenza as live bait is the method used in this area. it's a great feeling having a 100lb+ jet powered slug tearing off down stream or hauling it up from a 50ft deep pool.

i dont think im ready for the monsters in spain yet lol, i wana catch a 30lb - 40lb first. i had a good chat with bloke who owns bradleys ponds other day. he says that the big pond holds 2 cats, one at 30+ and one at 40+, then in the tench pond on right, holds 3 cats, the biggest is only 25+. then in the private pond at top there is a 46lb. im guna try and net one of these first. i definatley wana go fishing in spain or france in future, not just for cats but monster carp

used to be good mate not fished it for years,theres just about everything in there ,perch,roach,rudd,skimmers/bream,carp,pike and the rumoured cats 20 years ago there supposed to be 5-6ft long so now they must be like nessy :hihi: never seen or herd of any caught apprantley you used to see them in summer months at dusk in the shallows !!

I have been fishing for big carp now for near 20 years, and in the early days wasted a hell of a lot of time chasing fish that just are rumours.untill i see i photo with a cat on it at this venue, then that is all they are rumours.But i have seen carp in there with my own eyes that are easy in the 30lb bracket.And have had the white common out at 26 .8 about 5 year ago and seen it last year so i know its still in there.The deepest part of this pond is the end with the restaurant at it and have fished it wit my uncle who fishes for bits small stuff and he fished the pole at 12 mtrs and did not have to un ship to bring the fish in so its around 11 mtrs at the point where the gate is.More chance of catching a can of tennants super or kestral super than a cat ..........mick

I had a catfish out of Crooks but that was about 10 years ago and it was only a couple of llb. It was also black which makes me suspect it was someones pet that got too big for the tank.

which pond at rivelin mate? and what bait u use for how big a fish?As you go up Riverlin Rd its the first pond on right just on corner coming from hilsborough end.There not massive last 2 i had out were about 3Ib-4lb All sorts in there plus a massive golden orfe seen it but never been able to land it clever little sod.Carp roach odd trout some gold fish in there as well.Not been up for a while though so dont know what conditions like now.Next pond up is suppose to be good but to be honest never had a good day on it.
Oh bait was lob worm although used luncheon meat in past.Crookes parks good though police were there diving last time we went came up to us and said you need a bigger tackle mate hahaha.
I dont know if that one on A57 is fishing or not now one on corner near roundabout just past old scrap yard go round corner theres a trout farm a few miles on .Dont know what its called everyone used to say sand hills but its not although it is sandy water beds maybe why they called it that.Thats got some monsters in there.But must admit as said Dam flask is good for cat fish when you can get them that is.Some massive bream and pike in there.Lost a rod once there no chance holding it back.Have never float fished Dam flask always ledger.

If you drop into the centre of crooks you will find its far deeper than that in some places ive fished it with depth finder on .Its a bit like a funel i used to use ball ledger you can feel it rolling down, Coffin etc no good just hits were it lands and stays there unless thats were you want be obviously.Id agree with dam flask though ive had 80ft.Sand hills is same very deep in places.
Going back to when we were fishing it and police divers were there they told us there was some right monsters down there one of them nearly S-it himself so he said it was bigger than him.But must admit never seen it myself.

looks like im finally guna have a good chance of catching a moggie. im guna do a 24hr session at lakemore fisheries in crewe. by looking at their website, it looks worth the travel. it seems like catching one in sheffield is guna be on hold for a while, need abit of experience before i go looking for one in ponds that only have a couple lurking the bottom.

He put them in without an EA license and such, was instructed to remove them when they found out. I've heard loads of stories over the years about a Wells that was introduced to Crooks Valley Dam by the University and grew on to be huge, but not convinced. As for the ponds at Riverlin, couldn't tell you if that's true, but it sounds pretty unlikely.

Aston ponds has a few Cat fish,my mate had a 12lb cat fish on the bottom pond, fishing bread at a foot deep.

Nice one, I mite av a go, I went to fosshill other week, didnt catch one, had a 12lb carp n a fish on that straightened mi hook, never saw wot it wer tho. I'm guna catch one this year, its my mission lol

The lake you are on about at aston is the specimen lake, its belongs to the kjs bit at aston. my mate had a 24lb cat out last summer fishing method feeder.
