Anyone got any idea of fish stocks in the graves park pond. I have heard tales of decent carp but they might be just that.

View Full Version : Graves Park Pond - Whats in there? liam1412 02-03-2011, 13:20 Anyone got any idea of fish stocks in the graves park pond. I have heard tales of decent carp but they might be just that. Thanks anywebsite 02-03-2011, 13:21 I see people fishing there. Never seen anybody catch anything. Treatment 02-03-2011, 13:23 All the fish used to be in the boating pond, where you weren't supposed to fish. sheffmusic 02-03-2011, 19:52 Ive seen some big carp cruising around in there, ive fished it once and had loads of perch, sum big ones aswell over a pound Pkingy 02-03-2011, 20:56 i had a walk round there one evening last summer 2 young lads fishing crust on top had seven carp while i was there i watched for about an hour loads of fish in there liam1412 03-03-2011, 06:45 I might give it a try this weekend then. I'll keep you posted. :-) beth&josh 03-03-2011, 08:43 i fished it a few times last summer and caught a LOAD of perch and a few roach but as for the carp they have been in there years and are very wise so not sure on 7 in a hour:huh: leelax 03-03-2011, 09:24 Those carp are the wisest I have ever come across, in over 40 years I have never seen one caught. The pond is a dump and the boating lake would make a great fishing pond without a lot of effort. Still more fish in there than the fishing pond. It needs dredging to get the results of 50 years of rotting lilly pads off the bottom. Pkingy 03-03-2011, 14:51 defo 7 in an hour it was a warm evening there must have 20 pluss cruising on the surface.why would i lie? marieh30565 20-03-2011, 11:11 Lake one the 1st one that you get to when you walk down from the car park,This has some carp in the biggest been a ghostie with a bright orange spot on her eye.The second pond that is full of weed has some realy nice carp in.The carp are not stupid either,i have had 5 carp out of the 1 st lake and lost a good few in the second weedy one.But its this one that has the big en it i have witnessed a 30 caught and banked on this one but you will need to get you rigs right, due to the weed.Corn is the killer bait on both lakes,so i would get hold of some of the artificial corn has this is boyant and you will be able to fish a chod rig.But it is well worth takeing the waders and clearing a couple of spots.Line over 20 lb is a must on this one braid if possible, realy lovely looking oldie carp.If you fish for carp alot im sure you will know what i mean the ones that are black on the top and gold on the bottom harf, butes well worth pre baiting has they will clear spots for you.Don't cast blind on either of the ponds use a marker float to find them nice little spots unless you clear some your self hope this helps tyke.............................................. ... beth&josh 20-03-2011, 16:17 anyone been recently? budgiela 11-05-2011, 11:04 Can you fish the first lake you come to as you walk up from the tennis courts end??
