Who does the nicest ready meals? Strix 24-11-2005, 12:33 I voted for Waitrose as I have not yet sampled the meals you can get from that farm shop up at Totley - it's usually shut when we drive past on our way to the woods with our four legged fiend (that's not a typo BTW ;) ) JonJParr 24-11-2005, 12:42 Without a shadow of a doubt it's M&S who do the best ready meals. GoGo_dancer 24-11-2005, 12:56 I'd vote for them all, cause nearly all of them sell Super Noodles, which in my opinion is just the best convenience food ever! Mmmm, BBQ Chicken flavour fresh from the microwave........ scottf 24-11-2005, 13:06 ............................... are ones that are in the bin???? Cook fresh!!! Squashie28 24-11-2005, 13:17 Tescos Finest Range is amazing, I love the different variety with their English dishes, Thai, Indian and Italian. I havent got a Tesco's near to me where I live, so when I come up to Sheffield to see my other half, Im always nagging him to go Tescos so I can have a look at what their finest range has on offer. Small things please small minds I guess. Jo lizzmobile 24-11-2005, 14:40 I didn't think hippies ate ready meals. Or is your name Hippy because you have hips? MMMMMM super noodles seanyboy 24-11-2005, 15:19 I've tried ready meals from most of the places in the poll and have to admit M&S are the best, the quality of ingredients is just better. Just to make sure tho, we should have a forum taste test! (For evaluation purposes only of course ;) ) Andy 24-11-2005, 15:26 Originally posted by seanyboy I've tried ready meals from most of the places in the poll and have to admit M&S are the best, the quality of ingredients is just better. I would agree, but Tesco Finest and Sainsburys Taste The Difference ranges come close too. I was not impressed with Morrisons. Just to make sure tho, we should have a forum taste test! (For evaluation purposes only of course ) You're on...I'll bring the microwave! hazel 24-11-2005, 17:14 I thik they are called --Muntaz--- and are the best indian meals I have tasted. They are sold at Morrisons and they are made in Bradford. hazel Lucretia_73 24-11-2005, 17:15 ASDA Good For You, 3 for a fiver - Moroccan chicken and cous cous is my fave. Close second being Mustard Chicken with broccoli and spicy potatoes and Chicken and Asparagus with rice to finish. Not so good if you're not a fan of chicken I guess. owdlad 24-11-2005, 17:23 Originally posted by scottf ............................... are ones that are in the bin???? Cook fresh!!! Correct Scottf  Ready meals are a load of carp. :gag: parcher 24-11-2005, 17:26 I second Hazels indian meals! Had one a bit back and it was great. I rather like Morrison Tex Mex takeaway too Ginger_Kitty 24-11-2005, 17:26 ME!!!!!! (IMHO) ;) :D I don't buy ready meals, I like to know EXACTLY whats in my food! However, I live on my own and am terrible at making one-portion meals (its also cheaper to buy and cook in bulk) so I'll cook a batch of something like curry and freeze separate portions, so on lazy nights (like tonight) I just get a tub out of the freezer, nuke it in the micro and eat... YAY home cooked ready meals :D   parcher 24-11-2005, 17:27 Just finished off a frozen Paella from Lidl. Full of fish and meat and ready in about 15 minutes. Loads of it too. nick2 24-11-2005, 17:30 Nearly all ready meals come from the same factory, so you're only realy voting for who has the best packaging and price. And they all contain way too much salt, fat and other crap thats bad for you. evildrneil 24-11-2005, 17:33 I do occasionally buy ready meals if I'm lazy or at work (Waitrose are the best I've found) but I've recently discovered the joy of the steamer - chunk of fish in the bottom basket, chopped veg in the top and 20 mins to a delicious nutricious (well more than a ready meal anyway!) meal :) pattricia 24-11-2005, 22:22 Originally posted by JonJParr Without a shadow of a doubt it's M&S who do the best ready meals. Im with you on that one ! D2J 24-11-2005, 22:25 Am a Tesco's man.. Building up me club points.. Free tin of Beans soon :D peterdo 24-11-2005, 22:29 [QUOTE]Originally posted by em3978 [B]ME!!!!!! (IMHO) ;) :D I don't buy ready meals, I like to know EXACTLY whats in my food! Me too. Hippy 25-11-2005, 08:27 Lizzmobile, this Hippy doesn't eat many ready meals, however, having now got two kids under 2 sometimes we're a bit pushed for time at the end of the day which led me to think about who does the nicest ones for the days when you just can't be bothered to cook. I'd have to agree with em3978, it's great having a load of home made curry in the freezer ready to go.... <slurp>. Captain_Scarlet 25-11-2005, 08:37 Originally posted by Andy I would agree, but Tesco Finest and Sainsburys Taste The Difference ranges come close too.I was mixed on that one. M&S are simply gorgeous, but the (Not Extra Value meals) are also nice but a fair bit cheaper, and I think that must be taken into account when you get a meal: taste/price. For taste alone: M&S. For overall satisfaction and not so much guilt: Tesco. DragonofAna 25-11-2005, 09:13 I clicked other. What's a ready meal? Is it one of those things you quickly microwave for the kids when you cannot be bothered to cook properly for them, or cos you are in a rush? It's just as easy to have beans on toast or welsh rarebit, or even be more creative in a few minutes. Blooming micro meals and pot noodles - the bane of anyone who enjoys cooking. Them instant chips taste like c**p. Dragon kahn 05-03-2011, 18:29 m&s are probably the nicest but asda is much cheaper. i buy mine at asda and tesco, i review them on my blog: Ready Meal Reviews (http://www.readymealreviews.co.uk/). I dont think Clubcard points are a reason to go to tesco they give so little back it's just not worth it Isabelle 05-03-2011, 18:55 I was put off eating ready meals after watching The Big Fat Truth about Low Fat Food. In it they showed how low fat ready meals contain an ingredient present in wallpaper paste, yuck! I still very occasionally eat them, I eat alone most evenings so can't be bothered to cook properly, but I am trying to cook using more fresh ingredients. chimay 05-03-2011, 19:28 I was put off eating ready meals after watching The Big Fat Truth about Low Fat Food. Try batch cooking and freeze the extra portions. mystery man 05-03-2011, 20:50 they all are discusting awful frozen fake crap they are for people who cant cook |
