I've just heard that Christian Bale is going to be the latest actor to play the role of Batman, in a prequel to the first Batman movie.

Pretty good choice eh?

Has the title of the film been confirmed?

I thought it was going to be called 'Batman: Year One'?

Hope so, the shots of the joker and the Scarecrow (culd be quite old now, it was at least march last year) i saw were interesting, but i had the feeling this was going to a much more indy film rather than a big mainstream thing. Guess i was wrong...

Brain Thrust,

Check out my original posting further up. The title is Batman: Intimidation. It will be about Bruce Wayne's first year as Batman. Filming has just started in Iceland.

It seems they have changed the name again. Words on the street it's gonna be "Batman begins"

I think a better title would be:-

Batman: Dark Creation

Not bad Mr B not bad.

Theres an update on Dark Horizons (check the link out i posted earleir) it has some good stuff about the new Batman suit. If you look to the left for news dated Monday 23th Feb, you'll get the update.

Michael Caine has signed up to play Alfred

Michael Caine as Alfred? Fantastic.

I preferred Tim Burton's more moody and gothic style of direction of the earlier films then when Joel Schumacher took over...

One of the links says that Christopher Nolan is directing this one. Anyone know what he's like or what else he's directed?

The last major cast has took place. Gary Oldman is to play Lieutentant Gordon (A young Commissioner Gordon) there is going to be at least one big cameo. Liam Neeson is playing the big baddie

So Obi Wan Kenobi's doing The Joker?! Or the Scarecrow?! They should've got Jack Nicholson back for the Joker IMO, he was CLASS in the first Tim Burton Bat film.

For those who don't know, I am of course referring to Liam Neeson when I mention Obi Wan Kenobi, you seen the first 2 Star wars prequels?

johnjo

Yes i've seen the first 2 prequels, AOTC was miles better than TFM.

Batman Begins has Liam Neeson playing 'Henri Ducard' Bruce Wayne's mentor

Was pleasantly surprised by Batman - had seen bits of previous films and thought they were pants. This one starts off a bit slow for me, and background sound/music was a bit loud so i lost some of the dialogue. But after a decent fight scene the actiona picks up and the plot goes along nicely

Is it better than the first Batman though?

It looks a bit boring from the trailer I've seen but I might be proven wrong yet.

I'm worried, I loved all the previous Batman films, was happy with the dark arch gothic stuff with Michael Keaton and still happy with Joel Schumachers comic style crash bang wallop in technicolour (or dayglo). I coped with the dreaded 'Mr Wobbly Head' (George Clooney) who didn't massacre the character as badly as I thought he would.
I also coped very well with 'I Did Best In Top Gun and Willow' (Val Kilmer) who was relatively dishy. Although I liked Keaton best.
Christian Bale?? What a great big pile of poop! I cannot abide the man and I hate his characters even more.
Robin was... well.... ok. Batgirl... hmmm, for a dizzy blonde who can barely count, I suppose she did ok. Mr Freeze, The Joker, The Riddler, The Penguin, Poison Ivy - all excellent.
Is there anything to make me enjoy the film? Anyone?

much better than the first Batman. Its a "proper" film with great actors, a damn good script and a great director.

We saw it tonight at the IMAX (http://www.thefilmworks.co.uk/index.php?page=whatson_imax&tbx_site_id=11) in Manchester. If you can be naffed to get over there it's well worth it.

I thought it was good, but SO many cheesy lines which ruined it for me. I don’t think the director was the best at action scenes either, you couldn’t see what was going on. Having said that I did enjoy it, but not as much as the first one.

Yeah...that was the only failing in my eyes too. I hate the sudden fad in Hollywood for FTF (****ing the frame), where action is directed with a shaky camera so you can't see what is going on. last year's Bourne Supremacy was flawed by this, and it seems every director wants to do it these days to "give you the feeling of being in amongst the action!"

I don't want to be in amongst the action...I want to SEE the action! Imagine if football matches were filmed in the same manner, with a cameraman running about with a handheld on the pitch! You don't see the goals, but you just assume they happen because of the aftershots! There would be an uproar! Or even boxing matches!

When I go to see action...I expect to see the action, not the tables and walls around it.
