My eldest can go on a few rides and the younger 2 can enjoy the lights :) miss_luxardo 26-02-2011, 09:07 what ages would you say it is suitable for? looks like something my 4 year old would love! are there any rides suitable for him? i also have a 10 month old, would it be suitable? gasSafeHeat 26-02-2011, 10:04 It looks great for the kids. kazzy0300 26-02-2011, 10:14 the chippy (next to the post office and accross from dragon tattoos) on mansfield road has some flyers bluevan 05-03-2011, 17:05 Been today with my mum, sister and our 2 children ( aged 4yrs) What a rip off! Over priced and 2 small rides for toddlers and 2 more possible rides for them, £2.50 for hook a duck?? It cost £10 for us just to get in ( £2.00 per person, had to pay for the 4 yr olds) and then £10 for 10 ride tokens, Some rides (fun house, ghost train etc..) cost 2 tokens per person, It has cost us just under £100 for us to go there for 2 and a half hours! What a rip off, I wouldnt recommend it, It was expensive and not much there, Plus all the ride attendants were polish or something and couldnt speak english which made it difficult to ask anything, For the money we paid we could have gone to a zoo or proper theme park. Ok rant over, Best bit would be the inflatable light things that werent on because it was day time lol clairelaw123 05-03-2011, 17:16 Been today with my mum, sister and our 2 children ( aged 4yrs) What a rip off! They're always overpriced, as for not much there if you spent nearly £90 on the rides surely there had to be quite a few? bluevan 05-03-2011, 17:26 Have you been to a fair before? They're always overpriced, as for not much there if you spent nearly £90 on the rides surely there had to be quite a few? As stated I took 2 4yr olds so most of the rides were too big for them, £10 for us to get in £20 for 10 ride tokens, some rides needed 2 tokens per child, £5.00 everytime they wanted to play hook a duck, £13.50 for 3 hotdogs and 2 burgers, then money for the arcade, I have been to quite a few fairs yes! Graves park last year, ecclesfield park every year, there bigger and have more rides, entertainment and games, It was over priced for a small set up Rampent 05-03-2011, 17:28 No way I'm going to it. It sounds like day light robbery bluevan 05-03-2011, 17:41 No way I'm going to it. It sounds like day light robbery I think its meant for teenagers to go to at night when the lights are on to use as a disco, I couldnt believe i had to pay £10 just for us to get in?? I had to pay to get in to pay them again for there rides?? and it was raining, all the rides were wet, they should have made it half price in bad weather or knowing there was only 4 rides for the age group of the 2 kids i took they should have let them in free or even for a pound, but £2 each for a 4 yr old!, then £2.50 for hook a duck and its a cheap toy that you could have bought from poundland, Im not tight, Im quite daft with money really but it was a rip off! Having to pay to get in, and then get robbed, is beyond the joke. You could have had a way better time at the place in Matlock. Flowersfade 05-03-2011, 18:25 Did the kids enjoy their day out? bluevan 05-03-2011, 18:50 Did the kids enjoy their day out? A bit but they kept seeing rides that they wanted to go on but couldnt as they were too small, They went on the "tea cups" and the attendant wandered off talking to his friend and they went round and round and round...... Till they both looked bored to tears and were asking to get off lol, The attendant didnt speak english so we were pointing "off" lol Rupert_Baehr 05-03-2011, 18:53 Welcome to Treasure Island. Enjoy your stay. We will certainly enjoy having you. Sounds like you were had? Rampent 05-03-2011, 19:02 Is this 'fair' or what? Flowersfade 05-03-2011, 19:05 Was this fair run by pirates? You were robbed. missflirtuk 05-03-2011, 19:14 I would be complaining and asking for my money back. Them poor children. Bet it spoiled what would have been an otherwise perfect day, being robbed. bluevan 05-03-2011, 19:22 Well its just one of those things isnt it, But i thought id mention it on here and then if anyone else was planning on going with toddlers/young children they would know not to bother Rampent 05-03-2011, 19:25 I wonder if this lot behind the fair do those rip of 'Xmas events' too. The ones that charge a family 40 notes to see a sad donkey and some christmas lights in a muddy field? marcy 05-03-2011, 19:54 been to the glow world fair tonight and me and 3 year old thought it was great and he really enjoyed it, the £2 entry and high security pressence meas that it keeps the usual bad attitude groups of drugies knife stabbings and all that away, and im quite happy paying that bit extra to feel safer, and enjoy the fair, if you think its a rip off dont go, your choice sjwilliams 05-03-2011, 21:01 been to the glow world fair tonight and me and 3 year old thought it was great and he really enjoyed it, the £2 entry and high security pressence meas that it keeps the usual bad attitude groups of drugies knife stabbings and all that away, and im quite happy paying that bit extra to feel safer, and enjoy the fair, if you think its a rip off dont go, your choice Thankyou! im planning on taking my 1 year old and 3 year old there next saturday it looked awesome when we drove past it and im a lil excited too to be going my eldest sons nursery gave out an a4 sheet of vouchers for it aswell so that will certainly save us money those prices seem reasonable for this fair and i dont mind paying the money to see my kiddies faces light up and see them enjoy themselves btw has anyone seen the dancing lobsters???? diggory comp 05-03-2011, 23:58 i reckon that the glow world is a bit of a con. a £2 admission charge is daylight robbery. it certainly bumps up the cost of the visit. even the rides are not as good as some of the previous fairs at meadowhall. those glow things are very "trippy". you don't even have to pay the £2 to see the glows because you can see them from the roadside. bluevan 06-03-2011, 08:35 been to the glow world fair tonight and me and 3 year old thought it was great and he really enjoyed it, the £2 entry and high security pressence meas that it keeps the usual bad attitude groups of drugies knife stabbings and all that away, and im quite happy paying that bit extra to feel safer, and enjoy the fair, if you think its a rip off dont go, your choice Thats fair enough and a good point, you went at night, saw the lights and had the bonus of the security, So maybe charging to get in at night isnt as bad, But i went at 12.30 in the day, in the rain, It was empty, maybe they should has discounted the entrance fee, Theme parks and flamingo land dont charge as much in the winter/autumn months, I have been to alot of bigger and better fairs and not had to pay to get in! the one at graves park last year was massive, better rides and free to get in!. I just think its a rip off being charged to enter a mucky wet car park so you can spend your money there! kizzynmw 15-03-2011, 11:40 As stated I took 2 4yr olds so most of the rides were too big for them, £10 for us to get in £20 for 10 ride tokens, some rides needed 2 tokens per child, £5.00 everytime they wanted to play hook a duck, £13.50 for 3 hotdogs and 2 burgers, then money for the arcade, I have been to quite a few fairs yes!
