A 75-year-old woman escaped injury when a fire engine smashed through the front garden wall of her house in Sheffield.
The engine was on East Bank Road in Arbourthorne late on Wednesday evening while returning from a flat fire.

The driver swerved to avoid a car coming from a side road, lost control and hit the wall.

Four firefighters were treated for leg, face and whiplash injuries. The woman, who was in the kitchen at the rear of the house, suffered shock.

Hows bout that for a shock, poor old dear just putting the kettle on and that happens!

I was busy in the kitchen so just caught the back end of an item on Look North which appeared to be a fire engine embedded in somebody's house in Sheffield, apparently stolen? Did anyone see it and if so do you know where it was nicked from? A close friend is a fireman and I'd love to give him some stick!!!

Read on BBC south Yorks web site earlier that it was an accident, They were on the way back from a fire when the engine had to swerve to miss a Peogeot 405, going into a house....woman in back of house so fine. Firemen got wiplash and minor injuries. So don't think it was stolen

While this was all going on, the 2 lads and lasses, aka scrotes that were in the Peugeot ran off.

Unfortunately, I dont think any of their relatives suffered from a serious fire or incident that would have neede the presence of the fire brigade who wouldnt have been able to attend as quickly due to being tied up a little bit on East Bank Road dealing with the accident nd treating their colleagues and the lady at the address.
