Well you tell me where there is to go out nowadays in Sheffield. you have Kingdom thats rubbish and people get date raped there then you have Gate Crasher which is full of out of towners and more drugs then you got Niche where theres good music but loads more drugs. Theres Fuel which is ok but was much better when it was purple then finally Dempseys which is a gay bar where we all tend to go as its the only decent place with good music..

I moved back to Sheffield this summer (after a year away) & could'nt believe how much more variety and nice places there are to go, compared with twelve months ago!

Obviously it depends what "floats your boat". I very rarely go to clubs these days, I prefer all the chilled out / tosser free bars

Purple better than Fuel :loopy:
The place was the pits full of idiots who thought they were Superman after 2 pints :suspect:

Are you from Sheffield originally?

purple was rank. I mean it was full of under aged chavs.

I went in once when it was open. I don't think I was in longer than 10 minutes

You havent mentioned Leadmill here , or banus ,the plus , sutra , the room ,fusion&foundry or HUB.......Or the late bars.
Sheffield is more than a couple of gay pubs/clubs ,republic and kingdom you know. . . . .

This really get my blood boiling!!

I moved up to Sheffield from Reading about 6 months ago and I've made a massive effort to get myself out and about.. The night life in Sheffield is great and it's getting better.. And I'm very fussy about club/bars!!

Sorry if you think the night life in Sheffield is completely rubbish then I'd suggest it's due you being lazy!! Just like anything in life you get out what you put in..

Ok so here's my tips..

Get Exposed every month and read everything..
Get the cclive leaflet every month and read everything..
When out and about in town keep your eyes open for posters..
When coming out of clubs take the flyers and read them..
If you've never heard of anyone on the line ups research them!! Hey someone thinks they're good.. You never know they might be on to something.
Look out for every 1st Sat of the month or every other Weds type events.. These are some of the best night.. (think night not nightclub).
Search the web for events.. Look at forums for tips - ask questions..
Don't be afraid to try something new.
... that's it off the top of my head but I'm sure I can think of more..

I get really annoyed when I'm out at a really good night in Sheffield and the turn out is poor.. There's lots of promoters really putting in a lot of effort to bring some great nights to Sheffield and they need people's support, otherwise they will stop...

I realise that it takes a lot effort, music is hard work! There's so much out there!! I think it's it worth it and to be fair it gets easier.. It's up to you..

Mz_BaBe: What music u into? Give me some top nights you've had recently? I'll see if I can make some suggestions for things to try...

Too right!!! Never a truer word said  speaking from experience, I find that the people who say nightlife in Sheff is rubbish, are usually the people who wander around with their eyes shut half the time & stick to the mainstream places like "Kingdom" :gag:

THERES A NEW CLUB THAT OPENS THIS FRIDAY CALLED THE LIMIT. ITS AT THE SAME VENUE AS EUROPA USED TO BE SO PROBLY TRY THAT OUT SINCE THERES NOT MANY PLACES IN SHEFFIELD TO GO ANYMORE.

To try and visit all the places to go out in Sheffield would take months! theres lots out there if you dont go mainstream! No-one has mentioned 'The Earl' yet which is just outside the city centre

Clubbing in Sheffield has been very samey and limited since The Arches and The Highway closed. Sheffield desperately needs more underground venues, the mainstream is already over-catered for.
Apart from the Everyone Centre (which is really just a school disco style hall) and The Matilda Social Centre, there's nowhere for any underground stuff now...

To be fair, it is only a certain breed that go to the Everyone Centre and granted, it is good stuff but i think it would be a mistake to have too many similar nights on. It would ruin the effect...

I think the only thing that can spoil my night out is drunken idiots but if i ignore them (if possible) then i never notice other things goin on, especially if im with the right people, i do agree though that nothing ever seems to happen to sheffield's nightlife i think its overated to be honest, but them i am biased i did live abroad for a year in oz and allthough they dont have the numbers of bars we have, the atmosphere is 10x better (in my opinion)

yeah, agree on this, its really lacking in these areas now, until the summer arrives anyway, and everything moves outdoors.

but we do need some good all night underground dance nights back, the trouble is where to put them on:suspect:

I'm not keen on Zogg, I like my techno hard and fast. Adelphi is ok though, not been there for a while.

Just moved from Brum, nightlife here is a joke. The town is full of donkeys, people walkin round as if they rule the world.

Well the Highway was very shortlived and was pretty much a squat venue anyway, and in the last few years at the Arches there were only two regular nights (Headcharge & Zogg) and we've established you dont like Zogg (though slow & soft are not normally words used to describe Zogg's main room music...), so you're pretty much saying that since Headcharge stopped at the Arches, Sheffield night life has been samey and limited?

Headcharge was a great night - but there's still plenty going on in sheffield - just things move on... but even if your tastes are mainly the harder style of techno - there's still stuff like Future Funk at the Earl and quite a few parties at places like Matilda st. If you like the wider range of techno - there's Djs playing at Plug that havent played in Sheffield for years. Not to mention all the great breaks & hiphop stuff from UG and the Tuesday club, house from Scuba and Thiswayup and reggae from Dubcentral & Riddimtion etc etc Although a decent underground venue would be great - i think overall Sheffield is pretty healthy music wise...
