View Full Version : City Centre Restuarant at Lunch Time
leg_luvva 22-11-2005, 02:33 PM Hi
Was wondering if anyone has any ideas, Were looking for a restaurant in city centre(near or around west street area) that caters at lunch time not too expensive but not cheap either, It's a meal from work and we have 2 hours so would need to be served and eaten in about 90 mins.
Anyone have any ideas, Would help if food was good too.
Suzee 23-11-2005, 04:12 PM Antibo's in West 1 do lunchtime set menus I think....
Shirleye 23-11-2005, 04:15 PM 'Ask' in Cambridge St is good and quick service too.
Melanie 23-11-2005, 07:00 PM you don't happen to work at the home office do u?
i do and we have 2 hours free flexi to use on a xmas meal too.
the only thing i will say is get booking ASAP... we had a hell of a job finding somewhere for december!
leg_luvva 23-11-2005, 08:46 PM No not home office, but in an office, I will book as soon as i find somehere.
Leebo84 24-11-2005, 02:15 AM greetings,
i reccommend boho on campo lane... check out www.bohosheffield.co.uk for opening times, phone number etc... they have a very nice lunch menu and menu du jour from which you can can choose 2 or 3 courses for something like £14.95 and £18.95 respectively. The food is top-notch!!!
Ousetunes 24-11-2005, 09:27 AM Mamas and Leonies is a pretty safe bet.
Excellent food, not too far away and you should just about get in and out in an hour, 90 mins.
Trouble is, if you're like me, you'll not want to leave and order another bottle of chilled white.
empea 24-11-2005, 01:34 PM a couple of weeks ago we wanted a quick lunch and went into simply chinese....or hui wei or whatever it is... it was the best lunch EVER!
honestly, it was delicous, you only get a chioce of 4 things (beef/chicken pork or veggie i think it was) and so it was quick. also it was empty so it was ultra fast
i think it was £5 or £6 per person but it was a massive amount of food for a lunch and its perhaps the best meal ive had in recent years.....!

DaBouncer 24-11-2005, 01:36 PM Takapuna Bar & Restaurant, Lower West Street (opposite Reflex 80's Bar).
Great food, great service, not too pricey
Open from 11am.
Tony45 25-11-2005, 02:06 AM For a great Christmas meal try...

Broomster 25-11-2005, 10:26 AM The Wig and Pen has a fantastic tapas menu - the chorizo sausage is to die for - and Budvar on tap.
If you fancy a walk ( depending on where in town you work) you could go to the Baan Thai.

I had lunch there yesterday, 3 courses for less than £20 and it was absolutely delicious! Had the special - chicken ravioli.
Took less than 2 hours and we were in no rush at all.
jamesgc 25-11-2005, 03:40 PM try Bia Hoi on mappin street i recomend the thai green curry
greenlight 26-11-2005, 05:19 PM Try chacha's, it's open everyday,
Zander 28-11-2005, 11:55 PM I agree Broomster, it has to be the wig & pen - not only the tapas but also delicious lunch menu including steak & kidney pie, with suet crust mmmmm- they also cater for veggies!!
leg_luvva 29-11-2005, 06:20 PM Ok, What about this one.
Would prefer english food, ie. Pie or meat.
Also large portions would be a plus.
Can anywhere meet those requirements.

CherylB 30-11-2005, 12:43 PM Try the Ivory on Regent Terrace - just off West Street - it's brilliant, the food is superb, it has a great atmosphere, there's a great choice of cocktails and it's well worth a visit.
Check out the web site www.the-ivory.co.uk
sophiec1979 30-11-2005, 02:43 PM do you want a proper restaurant or a pub meal?
if its a pub meal, you cant get better than the red lion on charles street. big portions, proper meat, and friendly service.

leg_luvva 30-11-2005, 06:20 PM Really looking for somewhere a bit posh, not really a pub but may try there personally
sophiec1979 30-11-2005, 06:58 PM nah, fair play- if its for a special occasion its nice to make the effort.
what about the runaway girl on arundel street (used to be the old one11 jazz club).
me and my housemate went there for dinner last week and it was lurvely. granted we had veggie tapas but the rest of the menu looked very tasty.
they do a lunchtime menu and im sure i remember seeing bangers and mash on the menu- not quite pie but definately meat. plus the drinks are pretty reasonable too.
best of luck with the search,
sophie

laalaa 30-11-2005, 07:20 PM How about the Mashouse (http://www.themashouse.co.uk/) on Devonshire Street. Very British, but seems to have gotten mixed reviews on this site.
I would definetly say go to the Ivory as its chef`s are top draw from the one eleven club, its brand new, check out the web site first at www.the-ivory.co.uk, you might be lucky enough to get the babay grand playing for you, its just of west street on regent terrace which is the road linking up to the old jessops hospital
darkfox 01-12-2005, 07:03 PM chachas on fitzwilliam st. (down road from revolution)
