Just a little advice please.......
Does anyone out there live in a Housing Association house?
Me and the wife are gonna become parents next summer and probably won't be able to afford to buy.
Is the process of getting a house quite easy?
Are we likely to get a house fairly quickly?
Any tips or advice would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance

Much depends on your own personal curcumstances, particularly your housing situation at the moment.
Each housing association has slightly different ways of working out your point score and thus how far up their list of priority you are. Any type of "House" though is in demand in Sheffield.
Your best bet is to apply as soon as possible and see what they say. Also apply to the council. Even if you are not currently bidding for properties you will be accruing waiting time.

I have found Northern Counties very helpful. I cant say that they are super quick, it depends what you want and where you want to live, but they were quicker than the council for me. The rent is higher than the council, by the way, but the repairs service, upkeep and they way they modernise are much better in my opinion. I also feel I receive a personal service from an allocated tenancy officer.

SYHA were fine for me.
Water rates aren't included in your rent, you need to pay those separately but the repairs service is second to none, quicker than the council and they made sure I was totally happy with the condition of the house before I signed for it.
I too was allocated a tenancy officer who dealt with all my queries very quickly and efficiently.

Thanks everyone. That's dead helpful.
We've been offered a chance at buying a house within our very limited budget.
We're still going to apply to all the associations though, just in case this offer turns out to be "too good to be true"
