Never a good idea. Particularly if you're planning on lying about your grammatical skills, Charles :loopy:

I've never lied! I've just made it sound that good, even I believed it!

Never lied, never had to.

Some of the stuff I've done I find hard to believe myself.

You don't ever (ever ever ever ever ever) lie on your CV - cos you'll only get found out when you're in a job you aren't capable of. What you can do, however, is sell yourself, using the right words to make you sound like the Man (or the Woman).

No, I wouldn't lie.

To those who are tempted, I submit the cautionary tale of George O'Leary. A false CV caught up with him in 2001, more than 21 years after he inserted a few "innacuracies" about his nonexistent college football career in New Hampshire. The lies were exposed in a New Hampshire newspaper just a week after he accepted the job of football coach at the University of Notre Dame. He resigned the next day.

This was a major scandal in the U.S. ... Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, is quite a prestigious Catholic university known for its excellent academics and athletics.

Definitely a "definitely not"'; the Chief Executive of a Hospital Trust was recently sacked and sent to prison for lying re his educational qualifications on his resume.

If you feel the need to lie about something this usually, but not always suggests a certain sense of inadequcy. It is well worth investing time to reflect on the essence of your concern, how to present it in the best light to you, check whether it is relevant and if not move on.

Omission is an offence if you fail to declare sex offences/unexpired criminal track record and applying for a job with children or disabled people etc. There may be other areas where omission is also an offence but I do not profess to have much expertise on current employment law. As I dont think this would apply in this case what is the point of lying? :D

Never had to lie - but having worked as a recruitment consultant in the past certainly learned the ways and means of being "creative with the truth" and "artistic exageration"... wouldn't get away with it in my line of work now but it was cool for saturday jobs and the carphone warehouse!
