I remember it too. It was on the RHS going up High Street. I didn't go there though as it was considered a place where the 'smoothies' went............I much preferred the Penthouse

Have I got the right place?

You used to have to go downstairs and it was near Dolcis shoe shop?

Or am I mixing it up with Josephines?

PS you are probably right, my mind could be on the blink :help:

I remember it well. Won a bottle of champagne on one of them crazy nights where the DJ was asking for certain items to win a prize. I was the first to give him a pair of underpants. If you search the forum you will find other posts about the Daisy and the Mucky Duck.

Yep, I remember the Crazy Daisys, i was there every saturday night among other nights in the 70s, great place, great times, great bunch of lads & lasses, it wasn't a dive when i was there, though i may have contributed to that image "the drunk in the corner" once went out with one of the bar maids Christine was her name, lovely lass, I have nothing but good memories of the place.

I have a vague memory of occasional short visits to the place, en route to other clubs. If I recall correctly [and I believe I do] in the early 80s the place was full of Sheffield men attempting to look like Bryan Ferry, dressed in box jackets and sporting hilarious pencil moustaches.

i remember it but ive never been in, was too young and i wasnt into "smoothy" music lol

in every bit of information about music in sheffield they always bring up the fact the human league met the girls in there who later joined the band, im fed up of hearing about that bit tbh :P

I finished my "bachelor night" off in the "Crazy Daisy" Unfortunately things got out of hand and the place got totally "wrecked"
It closed down after that night and re-opened as the "Geisha Bar " and I got married with the proverbial "Black eye"

My mum used to work @ the city hall in the late 70/80's & we used to wait for the bus outside the Daisey at night after she had been working on conserts, I used to think " that must be full of nutters, there was allways people coming out in nazi uniforms, some dressed in all black (now known as goths!)

I remenber the daisy, met my first wife there, me and my mates had a competition to see who could be the first to pull different types of girl each time we went (you know fat, thin, tall short etc etc). I won the girl in specs comp and met her again the next night by the Fish tank in the hole in the road, got married at 18 and divorced at 25

I spent a lot of my mispent youth in the Daisy, I loved the place. There were Punk and Bowie nights which were my faves but it could get a tad rough and the beer was like P***. I once saw someone dye their hair blue in the toilet sink! Fortunately before it closed down, the world renowned Limit club emerged giving the Daisy folk a new and better place to go. It was still a top place for the time though:)

Just as a point of interest. I have a proffesional role at the premises to which it was attached (Telegraph House).
The daisy was actually the basement if memory serves me correctly and is still vacant. It was also at one time a German Beer Kellar and I had many a great night in both establishments,

I loved the lunch time sessions there. It was very rowdy and the beer was like Pis* Always a good Idea to take you own pernod with you. Anyone remember the bouncers ... John ... was one of them a friend of mine and Neville ( black guy) I bought him a drink on my 18 th birthday ...I'd been going in there 18 months. It was a shame a few people got hurt there as it was a really cool place to go and meet friends. Mr Jamison was the manager. I had loads a fun/blackouts ...making a tit of myself but always getting back in.

I used to go in on Saturday afternoons when it was dark and HOT! Lots of Bob Marley, reggae and black dudes looking cool in dreads. During the week they served great cheese omelettes at lunchtime, and when I told my mum she went in to check the place out!!

The Crazy Daizy was my first real club and it was just fantastic. Did anyone go to the Roxy and Bowie nights on a Wednesday? They were so cool. All the guys thought they were Bryan ferry (including my boyfriend) and all the girls tried to be like The Sirens. The music was unlike any other club. After the Roxy and Bowie nights came punk; it was so different to the boring "townie" clubs like Josephines. Used to go every Monday,Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon. So many happy memories.

One song that ALWAYS reminds me of the Daisy is walking in Rythm by the blackbyrds. It was THE place to go if you were into Roxy and Bowie.

I also remember we used to be let out of school at dinnertime on the last day of term, and we used to g down the daisy. It was really dark as it was downstairs, and when they kicked you out at 3.30pm it was really strange coming out into full daylight!!!!

Me and my friends never missed Roxy night at the Daisy in those days, Do you remember that slinky dance you did to " Love is the drug" and "Both Ends Burning" We used to dress in tight pencil skirts and Roxy girl style clothes but never looked as cool as the " In Crowd" that used to pose about at the far end of the Daisy in ever more bizarre outfits. Ohh I wish I had a time machine , just to go back and enjoy one night like they were then.

Underpass - John Foxx, excellent record! The Daisy was a great place for it's time, sort of setting the stage for the arrival of The Limit I guess.
