Have you seen the threads on this Forum about JLP/Cole Brothers.

If you do a search I think you'll find quite a few people myself included take a different view.

At least 1 person announced they wont shop at JLP/Coles anymore, another believes they've been mucked about something rotten with the credit card deal, a 3rd has complained about staff in the Audio & TV Department lying and that's my experience as well.

Their website is NOT user friendly if you are disabled and want to find out about their access and accessibility arrangements either to shop on-line and/or in their branches. Furthermore it only has 1 accessible loo buried on the top floor so goodness help wheelchair users in the basement who are caught short.

Furthermore forget it if you've got a speech impairment because unless I'm mistaken, their Policy on Disability Access specifies if they believe the disability is "genuine"; hardly in the spirit of the legislation. Perhaps their main law firm who ever that is should send all their lawyers/legal counsel back to law school.

In a word NO. I think they're the total PITS.

I've had it up to my back teeth with their flaming staff telling me about the state of my voice loss problems job etc, etc, etc. The last straw today was the pishicker who had the damn cheek to tell me it was better last week.

This is absolutely incredible. I did NOT have a spare minute in my brief respite from the Big City last week and I would only have gone in there to use their ladies toilet.

As usual it was in an absolute mess and certainly didnt look like it had been checked in the previous hour never mind every 20 minutes.

I like Coles, when you stand outside you can hear them shout "BIG ISSUE!!!" for a fair distance. All that tarmac is nice too. Now that it is freshly laid it is time for some luny contractors to start digging it up....

I like Coles. Never had bad customer service in the store or on-line.

And I think their Christmas wrapping paper is lovely this year. The one with the polar bears on.

I think the place is dated, the staff a little strange, and it has a sort of fusty smell.

The only reason I go in is to browse the audio & tv department which is quite good, if not a little overpriced. But thats about it, the clothes on sale arent much to write home about.

I like Coles, and as I park there when I go to the top end of town, I always buy sommut to get cheaper parking. Coles and Debenhams are wicked Department Stores. The advantage of both places is that I don't have the feeling of beeing in an advertisement mall.

i think it has gone down hill big time the staff are always stressed and have little time to help. i heard that there used to be 1200 staff now its about 600 no wonder there's no-one to serve.

I was reliably informed that it was intentional to cut staffing levels and introduce more part-timers; ie reduced service. They have succeeded by outsourcing cleaning, customer accounts and similar services.

Dont really go in there much, but about a month ago, we got a hell of a deal on a new telly because they matched Argos's sale price AND gave me a free 5 year warranty which saved about £250 on the warranty and about £200 on the telly which I can't complain about
