View Full Version : Ian Brown Gig Tonight!!!
SWFC00 17-11-2005, 04:58 PM Anyone else off to see King Monkey tonight?
Should be a top gig  Seen Squire before, but this is my first Brown gig.... Maybe someday both in the same room :D
Bacala 17-11-2005, 07:49 PM wtf!!! where???
how've I missed that one?
it'll be class lad, saw him in Leeds last year and what he lacks in vocal skills is certainly made up for in presence and general atmosphere!!.......got tickets for him in Manc in a few weeks...can.not.wait!
Jonnymango 17-11-2005, 08:59 PM He's playing in Doncaster right? Not Sheff?
I saw him at the Octagon last year. He came on, did a tune and then pronounced to the crowd "I look like a monkey, but I feel like a lion.
Class.
Bacala 17-11-2005, 10:47 PM another brownie fan in meersbrook quailty!
SWFC00 18-11-2005, 12:57 AM Just got back from the gig.... WOW :wow: What a night!
He was playing at Doncaster Dome, it was'nt that well advertised to be honest. Was a really good atmosphere & he had a laugh and a joke with the crowd.
Mani was at the gig aswell (did'nt play together) but still...
Played four Roses' songs all-together.
Highlight was probably the final song "Waterfall". Low point was when he did a version of "Submission" by the Pistols. Was great to hear it live, but he murdered it if I'm being honest.
Overall though an amazing gig
Flinny 21-11-2005, 01:47 PM Was also at the gig Ian Brown played a blinda. Also went 2 see Mani at the aftershow what a legend had me in stitches. Heard the complete stone roses are playing at the leadmill is it worth a visit.
feargal 21-11-2005, 02:01 PM I saw Mani outside, having a fag! Didn't really notice him until he was pointed out to me, but once I heard his dulcet tones, there was no mistaking the little fella!
Brilliant gig... Brown just gets better and better. Oh, I hope the Roses rumours for next year are true! :D
Snakey_B 21-11-2005, 03:47 PM The mans a legend , i saw him twice last yea and once this year ,was very tempted to go to the dome but other gigs id prefere to go to (BRMC ,Subways and stands)

Be good though, eh SnakeyB?! Although, on second thoughts, would it be as good as we want it to be? Reunions are generally a massive let down.
Still, bet Squire could do with the money - he seems to be very quiet at present.
Snakey_B 21-11-2005, 04:15 PM Of course it would be good! But i think its one of those things that should never be relived as maybe it wouldnt have the same magic it did 1st time around. . . .not that i ever saw stone roses cos im only 20!
feargal 21-11-2005, 05:56 PM I did!! Although, I'm pretty ashamed to say that apart from them being fantastic, I can't remember that much about it. You know, what songs were best and stuff. I just remember it being very very very good.
Ah, the olden days, when it were all flares and hooded tops round here. ;)
Pobby 21-11-2005, 06:50 PM Hiya all, just wondered if anyone knows anything about The Complete Stone Roses, they are playing the Leadmill with Peter Hook on 4th December?
Any good? Is it worth a visit?
Pobby
SWFC00 21-11-2005, 09:37 PM Should be a great from what I've heard / read. Take a look for yourself... The Complete Stone Roses (http://www.stoneroses.net/?1132605149412)
feargal 22-11-2005, 10:05 AM Seen 'em and they are good. Mind you, the singer was so merry that he nearly fell of stage a couple of times! Sounded great though. Recommended
xbecx 04-12-2005, 08:13 PM Yeh I went to Donny to see Monkey Boy - was class!!!
Really wana go to Leadmill tonite - but only just found out! Anyone else going| Or want to go? None of my mates wana go and time is running out.............
Chris_Sleeps 05-12-2005, 05:28 PM I've seen Complete Stone Roses and they are a good band. The singers voice is great.
Support comes from local band The Golden Age aswell. Check them out if you can. :)
Bacala 06-12-2005, 11:07 AM made the jaunt over to the 0161 to see the monkey man at the MEN Arena and I have to say it was probably the best gig I've ever been to.....
vocally he was a lot stronger than the last time I heard him and the band and him were on top form...all the classic solo stuff from 'my star' to 'longsight' and then roses tracks to boot!...
SWFC00 06-12-2005, 11:59 PM I was tempted to nip over and see him again after such a top gig in Donny. However I was kinda pre-occupied
on the 3rd...
