I am looking to advertise the spare double room in my Flat in The Sheffield Star next Thursday and wondered if anyone had used them to do this? Has anyone got any tips regarding my ad or advice on how long i should take it out for etc.
I would especially like to hear from anyone who has placed a similar ad and how many responses they got etc.

Before you ask, yes my room is advertised in the "Moving to Sheffield" section.
I don't know if it's me, but there seems to be a lot of people who scour for accom on this site out there who claim to be really keen on the phone then either, don't turn up or don't call back. There are also people who don't even reply to my posts to those who are "desperately" in need of a room. :loopy:

Is the Admag any good?

I advertised my Sega Dreamcast for sale in the Star just over 2 years ago in December 2001, all I got was time wasters ringing up cos they wanted it for their kids for Xmas, part of the problem was that when I got it off my cousin, it had rather a lot of *ahem* "backed up" games, and because I was reluctant to sell a "backed up" copy of Crazy Taxi for fear of being done for selling pirated games, I refused the sale.... and the buyers didn't want to know me cos they all wanted this particular game...

Eventually I sold the console on Ebay for £90 plus p&p.

The actual placing of the advert was no problem at all though, all I had to do was call in the Star office on York St with a detailed wording of how I wanted the advert, hand over 15 quid, and the ad was in the following night's edition and ran for about a week.

Cheers fellas,

I know what you mean about timewasters. I will try the Admag. Is that a Sheffield Newspapers production?

The AdMag is your best bet.
If you wanna advertise, ring em up - it's free. Its out twice a week - Saturday and Wednesday.

It's not a Sheffield Newspapers production. It's part of the Nottingham Post Group (there is also an East Midlands edition).

Don't quote me on it, but I THINK Ad-Mag is an independent production.
