I started watching in 1985 when I was 6.

************ Kelly *************

Jagielka Holdsworth Stancliffe Borbokis

Colin Morris Brown McCall Whitehouse

******* Deane **** Agana *******

I was gonna pick Dean Saunders over Agana but I just think what Agana and Deane did over those amazing few seasons means i can't leave him out.

 UP THE BLADES

Any room on the bench for Keith Edwards, Trevor Hockey, Alan Woodward and Billy Dearden?

And just this once we'll have a keeper on the bench.....Alan Hodgkinson.

Like I said, it's from my lifetime. I'm not quite old enough to remember Edwards etc.

I did see them play but I can't remember it really.

Anyone disagree with the team I picked or would pick a different set of players from another era?

There's probably enough players to form a team from the one's that defected up the M1 to weeds.
Mick Jones was probably the first of many.

Alan Kelly in goal
badger at right back
stewart houston at left back
colquhoun and murphy at centre back
alan woodward RWM
Tony Currie and Michael Brown in midfield and dane whitehouse off the left
Keith Edwards and Brian Deane up front

subs: alan hodgkinson, borbokis, colin morris, trevor hockey and geof salmons

some peaked elsewhere, some peaked as blades, but if this line up were all fit and playing together, they'd get back above Reading in a matter of weeks

I can't believe you are bringing up that old chestnut again. I was there and witnessed that debacle, but it was a one-off, United's tactics were wrong that day, but they have learned since, and have scored a few notable wins at S6 since that day that some sections of people conveniently forget.
Most of them weren't even BORN when that happened !!!
I've seen it all, probably the best one being a 2-0 win in the 60's that I watched from the Wendy shareholders stand (complete with red and white scarf) (that went down well with the old fogeys sat round us). Mick Jones and Alan Birchinall scored that day I believe.
At BDTBL, the 2-0 win when Brian Deane put the ball through "teflon" Woods' legs was soooooo funny, I nearly p...ed myself.
Get real, Wendy's days as a top club are Gone. They gambled with the large wage structure, and the Italians (are they still paying Carbone's wages ?), and the whole thing crashed like a pack of cards.
PS Did ANYONE get their money back under the trade desciptions act for their "Back to the Premiership" season ticket scam. Pyramid selling had nothing compared to that one !!!
:D :D :D

so united learned after losing 4-0 at hilsbrough

yes you did you ****ed up promotion:D

davep

We didn't only f... up promotion, we ended up getting relegated the season after !!!
When I said they learned after '79, I meant playing Derby matches. Our tactics were wrong that day because Wendy double man-marked Alex Sabella. He went deeper and deeper until he was almost on our 18 yard box, which meant you could easily play with 4/5 upfront. I was screaming at our management to get Sabella up the wing. It wouldn't matter if he hadn't touched the ball for the rest of the match, he would have taken 2 of yours completely out of it, so it would have been effectively 10 v 9 in our favour, which may have changed the result considerably.
