shirleyF 07-02-2011, 07:00 i have just stumbled across this thread. I would like to come to your meet, but, how will I know you are you and not just some random customers. I would hate to get a bloody nose from asking everyone if they are forumers.
Put me down as a yes. I didn't make nearly enough Harlequin meets last year and intend to make this year a better one for them.
Chelle01 07-02-2011, 10:28 I'll be there as usual!! :D

As Pete says we'll be the biggest group there like as not, but if you ask at the bar the staff will direct you to us. Do come we're a friendly bunch if a bit on the loud side [that's mostly down to Zinger though].

for some reason I thought this was a friday, when I checked the calendar it is a monday
not a good day for me :(
I was tempted to come along but I think the risk of trouble is too great to risk ,I dont want to become embroiled in any fighting or loutish behaviour.
SpiderPete 08-02-2011, 11:10 I was tempted to come along but I think the risk of trouble is too great to risk ,I dont want to become embroiled in any fighting or loutish behaviour.
Harlequin meets never attrack trouble, you should not class each Forum meet the same, just because Bankers Draft had trouble does not mean this one will.
harvey19 08-02-2011, 11:56 I was tempted to come along but I think the risk of trouble is too great to risk ,I dont want to become embroiled in any fighting or loutish behaviour.
I have been to a couple at the Harlequin and was made very welcome.
Everyone had a good laugh and there was never an hint of trouble.
steelhead4 08-02-2011, 12:40 I have also been to several of these and never heard a word in anger. A friendly bunch :)
I'll be there in my usual capacity as the sensible one :D
steelhead4 08-02-2011, 15:52 I'll be there in my usual capacity as the sensible one :D
Which give a good idea as to the level of sensibility at this meet... :hihi::hihi:
The only time there has been silence is when someone challenged Agent Orange to relate a story about himself which didnt include getting drunk.
:):):)

wish these meets were on a friday
steelhead4 08-02-2011, 20:06 If they were fridays it would be no good for me unfortunately as I have other commitments until around 9pm
If they were fridays it would be no good for me unfortunately as I have other commitments until around 9pm
I suppose which ever day it is its not going to suit everyone
I have to work till 8 on this day so its a no for me :(
Both me and John X will be along for a quiet few :)
There has never been any trouble at any of the harlequin meets and I trust that this is going to remain the case. For those thinking of coming along, the group that goes to this meet have been meeting up for a while, but we're always willing to include new people, provided that is they don't cause trouble.
*Peaches* 11-02-2011, 14:08 I'm tempted but not sure I'd be welcome
I'm tempted but not sure I'd be welcome
Why are you thinking of causing trouble?:hihi::hihi:
You'd be more than welcome :) We're a very welcoming bunch, always have been.
*Peaches* 11-02-2011, 17:45 Lol! I'll see what i can do. Depends on last busses home etc
EdnaKrabappe 12-02-2011, 09:47 As per usual, I have a commitment elsewhere mid evening but will pop along before or after it.
As the Op of the thread and not as a moderator.
It seems to have become impossible to keep people from commenting on events that happened elsewhere and dragging in business that has nothing to do with the Harlequin or the people that attend the Harlequin meets.
Therefore I am going to ask for this thread to be closed and to remain closed. If you wish to attend the meet or to be removed from the list of people going to the meet please pm me and I will update the list.
I have asked for this to be re-opened. The meet will be going ahead as planned and hopefully everybody who signed up originally will be there.
steelhead4 15-02-2011, 18:10 Thanks Mort :)

I was hoping to be able to come along to this one, but it appears that my back has other ideas and I will instead be spending just a little more time resting in the only position that is comfortable (i.e. in my recliner). Ho hum.
Hope everybody has a good evening :)
Myself and hennypenny will be coming together. (weather permitting):)
I look forward to meeting hennypenny - and seeing you again, of course, Patty!!!

Are meets at The Harlequin held on a regular basis? My OH and I want to visit Sheffield and attend a meet, if there's one on, in April. We need time for OH to book the time off work and book the cats into a cattery etc. Also are none forummers welcome as I couldn't leave OH alone in the hotel whilst I was out on the town could I?

The only Monday I'm working in April is the 4th so any other would be great :). But the sooner I know the eact date the better especially for booking the cats into the cattery.
They're held on the third monday of the month and everybody is welcome. We have a number of regulars who come with non-forum friends.

harvey19 21-02-2011, 17:40 Afraid I can't make it as we are babysitting and I don't think my daughter and hubby would appreciate me taking their 7 and 3 year old to the pub for the night!!!!!!!
Hope you all have a great evening and hope to see you at the next meet.

Brilliant thanks. I've just been looking at hotels. The two city centre Premier Travel Inns are already fully booked for April 17th and 18th so I'll try a bit further afield.
Hope everyone enjoyed last night. OH and I are already looking forward to meeting you all.
Now where's the phone number for the cattery........
SpiderPete 22-02-2011, 11:59 Had a fab night last night, no hangover this morning which is always good :)

City Logings and the Holiday Inn are right nearby - so is the Hilton.
Was a good night, as always :)
I don't know what I drank, but all I can smell again today is petrol! :gag: I've had a couple of ciggies today though, and haven't gone in flames yet, so I pretty sure I didn't drink any :D

We've booked into The Garrison at Hillsborough. It's becoming our local when we stay in Sheffield as it's next to Morrisons (we don't have a Morrisons where I live) and right on the supertram route for shopping and access to several real ale pubs around Shalesmoor and the Sheffield Tap.

A little corner of paradise right here in Sheffield. :)

Awww, I forgot about that place. The bar is ace. :)

We went to The Sheffield Tap when we were in Sheffield last August. My OH was surprised to see a bouncer on the door. I explained that it was a match day which was probably why there was a bouncer. OH enjoyed a good pint or two in there. They even sold my favourite cider so it was a success all round.
