View Full Version : Which songs make you instantly turn the radio off?

I'm a bad 'un for this (but DAB does have its advantages in being a doddle to retune to another station).

Which songs, when they come on the radio, don't make it into their second bar or beyond their intro because you simply cannot stand the thing?

Here's your starter for ten:

I Will Always Love You 'by' Whitney Houston;

and for an added bonus ANYTHING by the Lighthouse Family.

Then there's M People, Westlife, Robbie etc, etc......,

Oh and as we are entering the festive season

Chris Rea - Driving home for xmas
Cliff -Millennium prayer ( and any other drivel that he spouts and claims as music)
Jonah Lewie's- Stop the Cavalry, Dum a ruddy Dum Dum!!!

As soon as I hear anything by the Black Eyed Peas, I turn off, I really cannot stand them, and it seems everytime I turn Radio Hallam on they are playing one of their tunes.

Wait till you hear Cliff's festive offering this year (I'd take a seat if I were you):

Cliff Richard, along with G4 (they of X-Factor 'fame') are recording a new version of....

.......................................

.......................................

(you ready?)

Miss You Nights.

(Someone tell me when it's January.)

YMCA always makes me cringe, plus birdy song, viva espania and all that sort of stuff. Not a fan of rap or jazz either.

Mind you, my opinion will count for very little if I happen to mention that I LIKE Cliff AND G4.......sorry guys.

Anything by Robbie Williams or Madonna.

Also songs which have been played to death, like I will always love you, anything I do I do it for you, This is how I remind you.

It makes me really mad when radio stations only play 2 or three songs by certain artists when they have hundreds of great songs.

E.g. Layla by eric clapton {especially if they miss off the piano bit at the end which I love more than the begging}

Stairway to heaven, what about something from Coda which we don't hear very often?

Having heard a very small snippet of Tony Christie's forthcoming Christmas single on Calendar last night, I expect to be turning off the radio on a regular basis (if indeed it gets any airplay at all)!

BTW - It's yet another version of Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody

All depends on which station you listen too...

DAB's great!

Joss Stone :gag: Sends shivers down my spine!!
How her 'PR' team could have the gall to market her as the next Soul sensation.... :loopy:

Any manufactured pap : Sugababes, Robbie, Blue, Westlife, Will Young, Busted, ad nauseam.

I don't turn the radio on. What's the point? All you hear is the same, safe, bland rubbish repeated throughout the day.

The only music stations worth listening to are BBC.

The rest of them are purely about making themselves attractive to advertisers, so they just play lowest common denominator stuff.

Yeah stuff like Black Eyed Peas and that so called "R n B". It's just awful to listen to. As well as the stuff they put on Galaxy FM. Dog poo!

There are far too many songs to mention that I hate but the new Black Eyed Peas one 'my humps, my humps' etc is the one that I cannot sit thru right now.

The BBC are as guilty as peddling lowest common denominator rubbish as anyone else.

Though some of their online stations are ok.

Anything by Cliff Richard, Chris De Burgh, Celine Dion, Chas n' Dave, Status Quo, Dire Straits and Robbie Williams makes the gorge rise. All are simply unbearable for various reasons. Other vilenesses include Geri Halliwell, Craig David, Steps and Will Young. To be frank, most popular music is unutterable filth and rubbish.

Chas and Dave brought us Snooker Loopy - one of the worst songs ever accompanied by one of the worst videos ever. Who wants to see Dennis Taylor and Steve Davis singing?

However, they released a cracking song in 1982 called Ain't No Pleasing You, totally unlike Rabbit and all that East End Geezer stuff.

But as for all the others - oh hark, Mr Graig David is on as I type - BANG, off goes the radio.

Anything introduced my sara cox.

I swap radio stations at least three times every journey, If the song that comes on is not to my taste I go hopping stations for something I do like.

I only have to hear sara cox whining and it;s enough to make me bypass radio 1, without waiting to hear what the next track is.

She is too busy talking about her 'breasticles' most of the time. God.

Dear Ousetunes,

the song is catchy and memorable however, and it is the only way I remember which balls to pot when I am playing snooker. Thank God for Snooker Loopy, saves me embarrasment every time.

Please! A bit of imagination would be nice. :gag: When this song comes on the radio I really really wish I could be somewhere else but here!!!
