Anyone else experience this?

I was in the middle of drying my hair when all the lights and the power dimmed twice in 2 minutes at about 8.10am

Husband said it was my hairdryer draining the national grid again...... but I thought we might have been in for the full on power cut again!

I experienced this.

I was entering invoices into my Sage program and quickly lost my data (before I could save it, grrrr). It happened twice in quick succession at about 8.10am.

Thing is, I'm not in Sheffield 8 but on the border of S10/S6. Even more strange, my light and computer went off but not my radio or the CCTV!! Having said that, this crooked old building is wired up in a most wierd fashion and things like this happen from time to time.

Yep, we're in S8 and experienced the same 2 dips at exactly the same times.

Bit relieved in a sense, as I feared it was just our electrics in trouble! - seems ok now though..

Just heard on Hallam that a pylon is on fire at Parkwood Springs and that 'some people have experienced trips'.

Wahaaaayyyyyy.

Yes we had this too in S11, really you'd have thought they would have kept it to the single digit post codes.

Walked into work at 8.30 this morning and my PC wouldn't turn on (apparently we had a surge at some point).

But then it started working 10 minutes later :( :( :(

Glad it's not just us then!

Had a slight moment of panic, cause I'd only dried half my hair! What a tragedy that would have been........!:hihi:

I would have had to have phoned in sick and everything..
"Sorry Boss, can't come in today - yeah - hair emergency"

Happened in S6 as well.

I wondered whether I was having some sort of Joe blackout, but then realised it was just the lights.

I'm curious.

I work at the Home Office at Moorfoot and at 8.10am this morning we had no power problems at all :P

I didn't notice the power dipping but at about that time my DAB radio reception went very dodgy for a little while - maybe the transmitter was losing power?

Strangely it affected the sixth floor only, someone mentioned something about clean power with anti surge properties versus dirty power...or something

It affected the train station at Sheffield very briefly - lights barely went out for more than a second but apparantly it set every signal from Chesterfield to Doncaster to red and all trains came to a stop!

this happened to me too in S6 i thought we must have a ghost.

The light dimmed and my CD player turned off and on again but the clocks in all the other rooms didn't need resetting. Odd:confused:

I heard a report on Look North yesterday that a Pylon had caught fire and caused the problems.

Can someone explain how a pylon catches fire ? The ones across Parkwood are the big metal type, which bit burns?
