This airport seems very quiet and with very few destinations, it is worth having?

Do you use it or still have to travel to Manchester, Leeds Bradford or East Midlands to fly?

I use it and it's brill. No delays, straight through check in and then relax in bar until boarding. Hate using the other airports since experiencing the calm of Donny.

I always go from Manchester or East Midlands, but last year doesn't seem bad for them.

I think the destinations available should be expanded, and it needs a road link to the M18 as originally planned. That would help things.

I'm going to be using it on Monday. Flying to Barbados for a 2 week cruise!!

The only criticism I've got of the airport is there's no Boots there, so instead of buying toiletries at the airport, you have to pack them.

Recommend staying and parking at the Ramada as well.

It's a strange time of year for a small regional airport ... with most of its routes very seasonal (a lot of Spanish and Turkish destinations) it leaves the airport pretty quiet over the winter aside from the year round flights which are not so regular (Still daily flights to Poland)

EasyJet have pulled out which has cut the amount passengers going through at the minute because the new routes/flights from Ryanair and more destinations from Thomson won't start while March(ish)

This leaves some of the companies that work there needing to cut the hours of the staff and keeping opening hours to a minimum

This summer is expected to be busier than the last one!

And yes, I do work there!

I used to use it fairly frequently, but that was before it got the silly name and when it was under the old management. ;)

Unfortunately, it doesn't offer any flights which would be of use to me, so I use Manchester instead.

are Ryanair taking it over? (Or are they taking over the description?)

One link describes it as Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

....

That's what most people do. Why would you pay more for things in an airport when you can get them at a local shop ?

I assume that was when the main operator was CrabAir?

On a cruise, you have to take so many extra clothes the luggage allowance is very tight. If you buy things at the airport they aren't counted in your allowance! Also if you buy at Boots at East Midlands or any other airport, they have the same offers on, so your point is not really valid!

I would use Donny airport if:

A) My employer paid me enough to afford holidays

B) They chartered flights to where i want to go

When I go away for a week I can fit everything in hand luggage.

Are you having a laugh? We are going for a 2 week cruise. We have got 4 formal nights. That's 4 different cocktail dresses - somehow don't think they would fit in hand luggage! Husband has to wear a Dinner Suit, so 4 formal shirts, formal shoes which are a lot heavier than normal shoes. Aside from formal nights, each night is semi formal, so you can't wear shorts and tshirts inthe evening. How on earth can you fit all that in your hand luggage!!

I drove someone out to Robin Hood Airport a while ago. It took ages. Sheffield is the only city relatively near it without an airport, yet they chose a location which is no quicker to get to than Manchester or Leeds. Genius!
