Which pubs in Sheffield have pinball machines?

Additionally, and this is a shot in the dark, does anyone know anyone that hires out (and repairs if they break) pinball machines?

Places like the scream bars have them, don't see many pubs with them in now.

try www.pinballheaven.co.uk
I think they deal in new and used machines.
Also www.vivante.com
These hire out.

Oh great, my Websense at work won't let me look at game sites! I had a look at the Vivante but it's a search engine......

it's a search engine? strange as it came off google as a pinball machine hire site.

Try www.pinball-paradise.co.uk

hmmmm, it truly does pop up as a search engine. You can tap in 'pinball' into it and various hits appear.

I tried Google before and contacted a couple of companies in the past but they couldn't supply as we were out of their area (ie up north and they were down south)

You after a pinball table for your place then?

How about a pool table as well, I'm sure you could pick up a decent sized one from one of the sports shops in town or on the net somewhere.

The Cremorne on London road has got one that changes now and then so pop in there and ask who supplies him

Leisure Link have run out of them - they supply my bandit and were the first port of call.

Thanks for the Cremone info, will check!

No room in the pub for a pool table, too busy with the bands on.

But I don't want to buy one, just hire.....and they'd need to be a local firm as pinball machines are always breaking down and need regular maintenance.

Sportsman on Denby street have a pinball machine and I think the Travellers on Halifax road do. I would have thought that the same companies that supply and maintain pool tables and gaming equipment should be able to provide pinball machines.

I ran across a pinball machine in a bar the other day, so i wrote down the name and number of the supplier from the front:

Leisure Link: 0845 100 2000

Apparently theyre the UKs largest manager of public space gaming (!)

Hope that helps,

If you get pinball in, i might be pursuaded to come to the next meet - so theres your incentive.....dont just do it for me, but do it for the ladyfolk of the sheffield forum ;)

Leisure Lump told me that they don't have any spare pinball machines - they're all out or broken. Not much use to me, alas!

Rank Leisure Machine Services used to supply them as far as I know. They were sold on 10th February though so don't know if they'll be changing what they supply, website is at

http://www.rlms.co.uk/homepage.asp

If that fails then try looking on

http://www.thepublican.com/cgi-site/suppliers.cgi

and do a search for AWP suppliers, I know pinball machines aren't AWP's but they all seem to be lumped under that category. Good luck :)

Btw, tell Leisure Link if they don't find you one you want their AWP removed and you'll use another supplier in future - you'd be surprised what they can find when they think they'll lose a customer ;)

Good stuff! I've tried the Rank site but no sign of pinball machines on it. The Publican came up with loads of websites and company names.....so I emailed ALL of them. Lets see if anything transpires from this one.....

Anyone know if the Cremorne still has a table? Or any other pubs with pinball in the city centre or S7/S8?

The place I sell my prints, Bullet, on Sharrowvale Road, have 2 pinball machines. I don't know what condition they are in, but I do know Bullet sometimes rent items out.

Might be worth getting in touch if you can't turn anything else up.

I would seriously steer clear of buying an old pinball or Juke Box, because they are full of relays and contacts which are always burning out or wearing out.

When I was a lot younger I used to repair an old 45s Jukebox for a youth club it, only held about 120 records and it had many thousands of little contacts and solenoids, and there was always something broken. Pinball machines seem to have more heavy duty relays, due to the expected wear and tear of them being played, but keeping one running will be an expensive hobby, as you will be having to have it repaired regularly.
