Has anyone been on a guided tour of the gym at the new mcdonald hotel on surrey st? (not sure whether you'd have to wear a hard hat mind!!) A big board has appeared outside advertising memberships and tours of the pool/facilities -can't find any info on the web, does anyone know what their prices are going to be/will they do corporate memberships/what it's like/when it will open?

I was looking online yesterday for the same think and I found this:

http://www.vitalcityspaandleisure.co.uk/

I would be interested in having a tour of the gym when is open!

Blimey, it's not cheap.

Though it does sound good.

Indoor 18 m swimming pool
Sauna
Laconium
Steam room
Snail shower
Ice fountain
Technogym
Beauty rooms

I don't even know what a Laconium or a Snail shower is.

I had a mental image of a tiny little shower, about 2 inches above the floor.

I think it must be about the same price as the virgin gym, but whether the facilities are as good I don't know. You can tour round before it's opened as i've just arranged one. Thanks for the weblink!

I've just sent them an email asking if they do 'pay as you go' prices for the fitness classes, as I would like to do either the aerobics or aqua fitness without having to join up.

I'll let you know what the answer is!

Just heard there are no options available to 'pay as you go' at the gym which is a bit pants if you ask me.....

No way I'm signing up for £40+ a month just to go to 1 or 2 fitness classes a week!
I hate the gym and you know the pool will be about 6 to a lane at peak times..... I hate that, best you can manage is a doggy paddle!

That was my one complaint about the Virgin gym, you couldn't get in the pool unless you went "off-peak".

Didn't ask, sorry. I did hear a rumour that the hotel is supposed to open this weekend, although looking at it, you would assume it would be more like xmas!
The website has a link to 'images of the hotel' and 50% of these are still artists impressions......looks pretty swish though.

They have a mens spa too with manicures and back waxing etc.

(not that I go in for any of that puffy stuff)

I was thinking about joining this gym until i realised that there was no parking.I have noticed on their website you can park at Arundle gate for £2.00 for 2 hours.
So if i went lets say 4 times a week that would cost £32 per month then £47.00 for membership.Total £79.00, it isnt that good!
