I shall be watching it again. Glory_Box 12-11-2005, 12:19 My mum used to have this huge poster of it in the hall of our old flat. It was cool. She also had one of 'A Clockwork Orange' which used to worry me a little. bellis 12-11-2005, 13:59 does this film star gary oldman ? if it is yes its a good film cant really remember much about it as its years since i last saw it Moon Maiden 12-11-2005, 14:01 I missed it but I have it on DVD....the part Gary Oldman plays is pure brilliance! bellis 12-11-2005, 14:06 Originally posted by Moon Maiden I missed it but I have it on DVD....the part Gary Oldman plays is pure brilliance! its all coming back to me now he plays the drug dealer with very bad dreadlocks lol:) Moon Maiden 12-11-2005, 14:09 Originally posted by panda79 its all coming back to me now he plays the drug dealer with very bad dreadlocks lol:) Thats the one!!! mr.blaze 12-11-2005, 14:10 It's one of my favourite films, and Patricia Arquette :D what can I say. Is deadly with a sink? limpetboy 12-11-2005, 14:31 You can't beat the scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper, especially when Walken does that unhinged laugh when Dennis Hopper has told him about why Scicilians have dark hair and dark skin. Pure Genius. Trying to find out what the music is (it's the same one on the BA advert), so if anyone knows let me know. Sean robbie 12-11-2005, 15:19 one of my favourite films. due another rewatch very soon, vidster 12-11-2005, 15:26 Hadn't seen it in years until last night. Great performances all round from some great actors  Beakerzoid 12-11-2005, 18:47 Originally posted by limpetboy You can't beat the scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper, especially when Walken does that unhinged laugh when Dennis Hopper has told him about why Scicilians have dark hair and dark skin. "Sous le dôme épais où le blanc jasmin" from the opera Lakmé Kthebean 12-11-2005, 18:53 I love it, from start to finish its such a cool film. My favourite bits are when christopher walken kills whatshisface and the beginning scenes when they meet each other. Patricia Arquette is brilliant, shes so sexy and cute. And I love that guy who plays elliot. The only thing I was cross with was when ITV introduced it, they said, "True Romance, starring Christopher Walken, whatshisface (what IS that guys name?) and Brad Pitt!" No mention of Patricia, and STARRING Brad Pitt! He has four scenes! vidster 12-11-2005, 18:57 Dennis Hopper? Christian Slater? Gary Oldman? Kthebean 12-11-2005, 18:58 Think it must be dennis hopper (the dad?) same guy as the baddy in speed. What part does gary oldman play? I dont remember him in it? robbie 12-11-2005, 19:01 Originally posted by kathythebean Think it must be dennis hopper (the dad?) same guy as the baddy in speed. What part does gary oldman play? I dont remember him in it? the drug dealer Dreksel (sp?) Kthebean 12-11-2005, 19:03 No! Is that Gary Oldman?! Thats some hair and make up job! Another great character. Moon Maiden 12-11-2005, 22:35 Originally posted by Moon Maiden Is deadly with a sink? correction after re watching it is actually the lid of the cistern....class lass! littleidea 13-11-2005, 16:34 Great film, the DVD's got a couple of good commentaries on it. One by Quinten Tarrentino who wrote it and the other by Tony Scott who directed it. It's interesting listening to their opinions on the end of the film. Speaking of whose in it, did you spot Val Kilmer and Samuel L. Jackson? robbie 13-11-2005, 18:47 Originally posted by littleidea Great film, the DVD's got a couple of good commentaries on it. Elvis and in the club with dreksel melthebell 13-11-2005, 21:30 top film i have most of tarantinos films on dvd, including true romance etc which he didnt actually make but wrote stuff, or produced stuff, or sold bits on also inc bad lieutenent killing zoe and natural born killers Moon Maiden 13-11-2005, 21:32 Originally posted by melthebell top film i have most of tarantinos films on dvd, including true romance etc which he didnt actually make but wrote stuff, or produced stuff, or sold bits on also inc bad lieutenent killing zoe and natural born killers True romance is the story of Mr White before Reservoir dogs of course Tarrantino wrote stuff  Also if I remember correctly Tarantino threw - quite rightfully so IMHO - a hissy fit over Stones directing of Natural Born Killers. if Stone had listened to Quentin it would have been an entirely different film. littleidea 14-11-2005, 20:35 Mr White eh? I didn't pick up on that, but now i've got a great excuse for watching both of them again ;) Moon Maiden 14-11-2005, 20:40 Originally posted by littleidea Mr White eh? I didn't pick up on that, but now i've got a great excuse for watching both of them again ;) It is a give away in reservoir dogs. Can't remember all the names there now  where Mr White goes in to see the BIG boss. And BIG boss asks him how Alabama is  limpetboy 14-11-2005, 20:41 Originally posted by Moon Maiden It is a give away in reservoir dogs. Can't remember all the names there now  where Mr White goes in to see the BIG boss. And BIG boss asks him how Alabama is  Well, I learned something today :) Beakerzoid 15-11-2005, 05:40 Mr White was not in True Romance - but there is a link The reason Alabama is mentioned in Res Dogs is that in the orginal ending Clarance dies, and Tarantino planned that Alabama would turn to crime after that....she would have become a partner in crime to Mr White - although Mr White was not present in True Romance. That is the reason for the quote, but became irrelevant when the ending of the film was altered to make it a 'happier' one. In this same way Jack Scagnetti is mentioned in Dogs, but never appears - Scagnetti being the cop who takes down Mickey & Mallory in Natural Born Killers. Moon Maiden 15-11-2005, 07:52 Isn't there some mention of guys from Dogs in Pulp fiction too...I seem to remember some references but can't remember who Beakerzoid 15-11-2005, 14:09 Biggest link in Pulp Fiction is that Mr Blonde is Vic Vega, and Vincent Vega (Travolta) is his brother. To find out links in Tarantinos films, check out http://www.everythingtarantino.com/ as for more trivia.. The innocent bystander shot by Marsellus Wallace is the same actor pulled out of her car by Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs When Butch is approaching his apartment, there is an advertisement for Jack Rabbit Slim's on the radio. An ad for "Jack Rabbit Slim's" can also be heard during the torture scene in Reservoir Dogs Fabienne says, "Any time of day is a good time for pie." Alabama also says this in True Romance (1993), also written by Quentin Tarantino. |
