View Full Version : Searching for my good samaritan (accident south road 9/11)
I was unfortunate to be the passenger in a car accident on the 9th.. I sustained some nasty injurys to my face.. My memorys of it all are a bit scetchy but, there was a really kind lady who stoped behind us and helped me, I was bleeding and in shock and she took some blankets from her car apparently and stood with me untill the emergeny services arrived. I have her blankets at home and would love to be able to return them to her and thank her in person. If anyone knows who she is or indeed if she is reading this please P.M me.
(also I apologise for spelling and grammar, am struggling to see and taking big fat painkillers for the face pain)..
I saw the accident after it happened... you poor thing! Was it a Punto? And here I was saying it was lucky for the driver as it got the passenger side :(
Hope you're ok!
Yes that was us... people keep telling me how lucky I was.. but I cant really remember how bad the car looked apparently the passenger side was completley demolished.. I dont think its quite sunk in yet..
Wow, i'm glad to hear that you're ok!
Quap'la!
It certainly was! You're so lucky! Did the back corner of the truck go into the window??
It hit me in the face.... hence the headache.. :( but thankyouall for your good wishes
Eeeep :( Glad to know your ok HP :(
Take care
Bloody hell,
I walked past that when they were cleaning up.
You're a lucky bunny - that car was a total mess when they put it on the flat bed to take it away.
Any broken bones, HP?
Take care,
Joe
StarSparkle 12-11-2005, 09:56 I'm so sorry to hear it was you in that accident, HoneyPlanet - I hope you make a full recovery quickly.

Yes joe, looks like my nose is broken, luckily for me I got away with severe swelling and brusing to my cheek and jaw. Had a minor blood vessell rupture in my eye and a few minor cuts from glass, and there is a part of my face and mouth I just cant feel at the moment. I have to see a nose specialist when the swelling has gone down
Even the doctor at A+E took a double take at the x-ray he couldnt belive that my cheek was intact.
As people keep telling me I was very very lucky the lorry didnt just squash my head.
Personally I am just glad the rest of my family are unharmed as we were all in the car..
But thankyou all for your kind thoughts and P.M's They are all helping to cheer me up I must admit to feeling a bit low at the min, thankyou
I still would really like to find the lady who stoped to help me so I can thank her for her kindness and return her blankets.
Seems unfair not to mention the paramedics and ambulance staff who were wonderfull because I was very scared and they really helped to calm me down.
DaBouncer 12-11-2005, 12:02 :o Glad to know you're alright Honeyplanet.
That sounds like a truly terrible accident and you must have had a very lucky escape to get away with just the injury's you sustained (although I'm guessing they hurt like hell).
Here's to your speedy recovery love :)
AW thanks Da, am filling up *sniff* your all too kind...
Anyway It'll take more than a few ton of lorry to get rid of me :hihi:
sugarnspice 12-11-2005, 12:12 :o Oh God, Honey! :(
Aaawwww sweetie, that's awful. Hope you find your good samaritan and wishing you a speedy recovery.
PM me if you need to chat xxx
*Big giant hugs*
I'm sending thoughts of thankfulness to the world that your loved ones escaped injury- and wishing you a speedy recovery. It sounds like your number wasn't up that day.
Im also willing you one of those not-quite-hugs as hugs sound painful right now.

Yeah... I keep thinking the same thing myself, I managed to move my head out of the way so it just clipped the side of my face, and I remember looking down and seeing tons of twisted jagged metal just centemetres away from my chest. Scary...

GET WELL SOON SWEETIE:thumbsup:
hope you find your good samaritan-times of crisis usually bring out the best in folk.
my best wishes are with you.
john.
HoneyPlanet,
If it's any consolation you did manage to bend the metal bar on the back of the delivery truck. :)
As people have said, you were exceptionally lucky - cars can be fixed and replaced, people can't.
Get well soon to you and your family.
Joe

MysTique 13-11-2005, 16:27 Oh you poor thing HP- Sounds like an awful accident!
If the police attended and this lady gave a statement they should have her details. I shouldn't worry about returning the blankets tho', her kindness shows she probably wouldn't be too bothered about them, but I know you'd like to say thank you.
I wish you a speedy recovery. M x
Have dragged this thread back from the realms of the last pages because..... I took MysTique's advice and tried to contact the police to try and return these blankets I still have. Well I know the police are busy, but because the paperwork has been filed away no one seems to be willing to look through it all to see if the lady was a witness. I even said that I would drop them down to hammerton road so they dont have to pass the details directly to me. But they seemed less than enthusiastic.
So If anyone can help me get these blankets back to thier rightfull owner I would really appreciate it :)
matt1889 13-12-2005, 08:48 Sorry to hear about that HP, Hope your OK!
Which area did the accident happen in?
Well wishes!
Matt
It was walkley.. ages ago now.. thanks for asking.. Am just about recoverd now apart from my nose and a dent in my face..
 But I still have this bag of woollen blankets from the back of someones car. It seems a shame not to be able to return them to thier owner
matt1889 13-12-2005, 08:59 Yeah, it does seem a shame!
Did the person stay on the scene after the emrgency services arrived?
Maybe you could contact Calendar News, they enjoy finding Good Samaritans for people?
Matt
I presume she did.. But even if statements were taken the police seem to busy to dig them out and look through them. I Wish I could remember a few more of the details about the lady and the car she got out of..
matt1889 13-12-2005, 09:12 Stop Knocking yourself HP!
In the state that u was in, Im not suprised you did'nt remember, Cos i know i would'nt have!
