Hello!

Just wondering if people could suggest a decent USB sound card/sound interface? Something that will allow me to play music from a laptop through a mixer, rather than just using my headphone socket.

Thanks

Most USB solutions will be the same unless you look into the high-end Creative or M-Audio cards..

Something like this, http://uk.store.creative.com/products/product.aspx?catid=1&pid=19829 - but again that's just basically a headphone socket in a box

.....or for the M-Audio solution, something like this... http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit.html

which again, is just basically a headphone socket... - you will get better sound quality from either of these solutions, but then if your only playing Mp3's that won't really make a difference, and the internal sound card of the laptop will be just as good...

here is creatives complete range... http://uk.store.creative.com/products/welcome.aspx?catid=1&listby=usage

and here is M-Audio's complete range... http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.family&ID=USBinterfaces

I use a cambridge dacmagic which is connected to my mac via usb but can also be connected via optical. this then connects to my hifi amp using regular phono leads.

i see know reason why you couldn't go pc to dacmagic to mixer to amp.

i really do love my dacmagic. it's one of the best things i ever bought. it was the perfect solution for me to get the best possible sound quality from itunes and spotify through my hifi.
