I noticed yesterday that a some kind of work has started at the old Esso garage site on Chesterfield Rd/Derbyshire Lane. Does anybody know what they're doing with this site? A new petrol station would be really handy for me.

Probably a hand car wash centre - The preffered option for 90% of former petrol stations.

As it is contaminated land it would cost an awful lot of money to make the site suitable for any form of development,

I drove past it today and it looked to me as if they were taking the canopy to pieces. to be honest I think that Morrisons has killed off a lot of the petrol stations in the area, as all the supermarkets do when they subsidise their petrol sales through the food they sell.
