Hi I am looking to move to sheffield but need to live quite close to motorway (junction 34) as I am working in wakefield. Would like to live in a lively area close to pubs/restaurants

Any ideas?

Broomhill/Crookes have loads of Pubs and Restaurants in the area, but the houses are a bit pricey up there as it's predominantly populated by students and young proffessionals... If you want something a bit closer to the M1, Attercliffe would possibly be ideal, not sure what the house prices are like down that end though, but it's got a plethora of semi-decent Pubs and Restaraunts, and is in shouting distance practically of the M1 and of course the Meadowhall Centre.

Hope that helps.

Chapeltown and Thorpe Hesley are both decent areas with good amenities and very close to J35. It takes me 20 mins to get to Wakey from my home in Chapeltown. Plenty of pubs with food available too and a train station linking Leeds and Sheffield.

We bought in Woodhouse as Mr Strix commutes to York.

Motorway access is terrific, and we found out after we moved here that it even has a train station. It's only 10 mins by train to town, and now they've altered the train routes, we can get to Meadowhall in one go.

The pubs here are okay, and there are at least 3 nice restaurants in the village centre.

Crystal Peaks is within spitting distance.

Handy for J31 going south, and J34 (if that's the parkway one) for North. J30 is also accessible if there's a problem north of J31, and the A1 is also an option if The M1 is closed.

S35 and some parts of S36 are very good area's for quick commuter access for the M1, I do Leeds most days and don't get involved with the Junction 34 traffic - J35/36 is a lot less stressfull.

How about tankersley, close to Jnc 36, much more convenient for travelling North and (I think) a nicer area.
