Any advise? :) maxddb 08-01-2011, 15:43 I haven't started it yet but hope to on Monday is it easy going? Sooperdooper 08-01-2011, 15:49 It seems to be I will let you know Tues when I have my first weigh in :) warrior8 08-01-2011, 18:14 Not on that particular diet but I have lost 5 pounds so far this year!!! gailsnails 08-01-2011, 21:04 Snap! i joined at Beighton and my first weigh in is Tuesday. Im finding it really easy to follow and seem to be content with what i can eat. I'm trying to vary my diet so i don't get bored, foods containing protein make you feel fuller for longer so i'm focusing on that. Good look for Tuesday Sooper Dooper, think positive. Sooperdooper 08-01-2011, 21:28 Thank you same to you will let you know how I do, made the winter veg lasagne for tea tonight I was lovely. I definitely have my positive head on this time, so here we go to a new fitter and healthier lifestyle :) bobbie 08-01-2011, 21:30 Bet you all stop doing your diets by March. Why do I have this vision of a stick thin miserable cow looking down her nose at everyone else when I read her posts? I don't actually go to the meetings so i haven. Got the updated file x Nataliie 09-01-2011, 20:50 It works, but you'll be counting points for the rest of your life... I don't think it's sustainable. I don't know anyone who's done it and thought it was good long term. indiechick 09-01-2011, 20:52 what is the pro points system? I don't actually go to the meetings so i haven. Got the updated file x They have completely changed the points system You know get a daily allowance, and an extra weekly allowance which you an spread out over the week, use on one night or whatever. Almost all foods now have different points values, mainly higher than before, but you get a greater points allowance. The points are now worked out on protein, fibre, fat etc and not just sat fat and calories. Fruit is now free too! It seems to be working for most people. Might be worth getting a new file if you can? Sooperdooper 09-01-2011, 20:54 It works, but you'll be counting points for the rest of your life... I don't think it's sustainable. I don't know anyone who's done it and thought it was good long term. A lady at my meeting has maintained her weight loss for 10 years. It is about changing eating habits for life, once you get used to the correct portion sizes you should be ok. If you go back to your old eating habits it won't be any good long term. :) Nataliie 09-01-2011, 20:55 A lady at my meeting has maintained her weight loss for 10 years. I didnt 'count' points at all over christmas and still lost weight. Its because I have retrained myself with portion sizes, if I have a treat balancing it out etc So it is essentially the same thing as cutting down etc katy-louise 09-01-2011, 21:35 hmm yea think i may have to :s i didn't realise it was that much of a change x Rensh 10-01-2011, 10:05 Bet you all stop doing your diets by March. Im loving the pro-points because I can still fit in the odd meal/night out. My weekly weigh in day is thursday so i'll post again next week. Good luck everyone and keep on track  iphonelover 30-01-2011, 17:20 Hi I like it, Ive always like weight watchers. In regards to the way new pro points is worked out, if youve noticed although the points allowance has gone up to minimum 29, most foods have doubled in points. Although obviously you now have the weekly allowance of 49 points which is good, although if you are going for a meal one night and a proper blow out 49 isnt enough, what it is good for is, say if your out shopping and dont want a low fat sarnie but want something like a mcdonalds then its brilliant for little blow outs to not have to feel guilty about afterwards. Does anyone know any zero point propoint homemade soup receipes? I love carbs, so someone at my meeting said zero point soup is good because you can have say 4 slices of bread instead of 2 (because your saving on soup points) and have a nice carb boost :) iphonelover 30-01-2011, 17:24 for those who have mentioned not losing but sticking to it and doing excerise, just to help you, remember that sometimes excerise gives you muscles as well as working off fat, and muscles weigh heavy!! Our leader always says sometimes on the weeks she does more exercise its those weeks she loses less. There is one tip I can give everyone and thats to MEASURE YOURSELF! Our leader didnt all the years ago when she first started and its her biggest regret. Sometimes your weight may fluctuate from week to week but your measurements may constantly drop! Measure every 4 weeks your: upper arm thigh stomach (just above belly button) hips :) Impecunious 30-01-2011, 17:33 for those who have mentioned not losing but sticking to it and doing excerise, just to help you, remember that sometimes excerise gives you muscles as well as working off fat, and muscles weigh heavy!! Measure every 4 weeks your: upper arm thigh stomach (just above belly button) hips :) Just to add to that, it takes 12 weeks of continual exercise (not 24/7 but regular sessions) for this to begin happening and even then, the difference is slight. It's true that you should measure yourself...but just be careful that you don't use this as an excuse. I weigh people through at meetings and we have had some funny comments in the past from people who have not lost and put this down to the fact they went for one random run at some point in the week! iphonelover 30-01-2011, 18:03 Just to add to that, it takes 12 weeks of continual exercise (not 24/7 but regular sessions) for this to begin happening and even then, the difference is slight. Exercise can make the body retain water which can be the reason. If someone doesnt lose weight 1 week then I find its better to put a positive spin on the reason rather than a negative, obviously being realistic but keeping it positive. Measuring yourself once every 4 weeks isnt an excuse for anything, its just nice to see the inch loss as well as the weight !:) jenz245 30-01-2011, 18:28 Hi I like it, Ive always like weight watchers. I love carbs, so someone at my meeting said zero point soup is good because you can have say 4 slices of bread instead of 2 (because your saving on soup points) and have a nice carb boost :) I don't think much has "doubled in points" for e.g all the ww meals are only a few extra points and alot of foods are only half a point more than before. Jacket potatoes however are alot more than before but I avoid them and have wedges instead. I also think that 49 points is easily enough to plan a meal for e.g you could go to ASK and have garlic bread, Lasagne and sorbet with 3 175ml glasses of wine for 39 points and some of those points would be out of your daily allowence too as you would have had one less meal in the day. I seem to be eating loads more than the old "points" system which I did the other year but couldnt stick to it when socialising. With regards to soup I just do veg with carrots, swede, celery, onion and I add about 6pts of potatoes with veg/chicken stock and i make a large pan and blend it and its 1 pt i add loads of chilli and garlic too so its got a kick. ive also done the spicy butternut squash one which is in the ww book. last night we had a chinese and i had chow mein, egg fried rice, chips, curry sauce, a bottle of wine and i've still got over half of my weekly allowence left because i had a low point brekkie, lunch and loads of fruit. I was wondering if anyone has the old Discover plan materials that i could have/buy? That suited me for ages and this new one just doesn't work as well. I have managed to keep my weight off for a while now so its just about maintaining and jumping back on it when i have had a weekend away etc! I stupidly threw my old stuff away but am just looking for the shopping book (that has everything in it!) and the book with the basic foods in that came in your folder. Good luck to everyone in their weightloss and i'm sure the new plan works great for you all. I just managed to find a plan that suits me and actually works so want to revert back. My own fault for throwing it out! Thanks xxx Sooperdooper 08-02-2011, 18:36 GO Sooperdooper!! thats brilliant well done!! It's been done after evaluating food in a different way. It's a great guideline for a long term way of life to reduce weight and then maintain in without having to be hungry. It encourages you to have 3 good meals per day plus a fruit and veg allowance. The old points system made you count fruit and veg as part of your allowance and you could end up hungry each day. As a long term plan the new pro points looks really good because you should have a re-educated way of thinking towards your food shopping and cooking. The basics are to reduce your fat intake to extremely low levels and watch the portions of your carbs - ie pasta and bread etc. Protein points are reduced to encourage you to eat a balanced diet and if you use soya or tofu instead of meat in some meals they are lower in pro points. Eating protein means you should burn fat and not lose muscle when your scales show a loss. To speed up your weight loss you are also encouraged to exercise and burn calories. You have a choice to eat more to compensate, or not - and lose weight. Good luck. Ting~Tong 14-02-2011, 08:55 The pro points replaces the old points system on WW. I have lost 3 this week which now makes 10 in total I am really pleased with that, bring on the next week good luck  Brilliant Sooperdooper you're doing fantastic, keep it up and heres to another week of healthy eating! :) 123456A 20-02-2011, 09:08 confused already, poxy pro points Hi there Ting~Tong. At your next meeting ask the group leader to sit with your for 5 minutes and explain the pp. If you can afford it, WW sell weighing scales where you input the type of food on the keyboard and it shows the value of points. Remember that most fruits and vegetables are 'free'. After a few days you get the hang of the points and it comes as second nature to evaluate portion sizes and points - which is useful when you dine out. You also tend to remember the points after weighing items a couple of times so you know how to count a slice of bread, an advacado, a spoonful of baked beans etc. Keep at it! wwcrazy 21-02-2011, 08:57 Well I joined on Friday, so far so good. Ting Tong, you can log into the weight watchers message boards for free. They are great and there is always someone there who can answer your questions if you're stuck. JanitaM 21-02-2011, 13:42 Good luck for everyone one this. For anyone who don't find this the right solution for them I am happy to have a chat. I lost a stone about a year ago,not using weight watchers though, and I have no worries of keeping it off. Now I am committed to helping others to achieve the shape and size they want. Well done :) Livid 22-06-2011, 08:21 I'm on week eight of doing WW Online and have lost about 15Kg although i am going to the gym 3/4 times a week and not using any of the weekly extras. I have tried cambridge diet in the past and just trying to manage eating healthily myself but the propoints plan is good guidance for me at least when it comes to planning what I can have and what I can't and I don't have to make it a pain to do - this has been easiest method of losing weight I have ever tried. Also when I joined Quidco had an offer on for £30 quid cashback also so it was well worth it. Tipex 22-06-2011, 13:56 Worry less about what you're eating, exercise abit more (dont go over board) and you'll be a happy medium. Keep in mind every one of us has the same problem trying to keep weight off, so dont think you're alone and give in too easily. emerald1978 08-08-2011, 19:21 hi I'm wanting to start WW again as I can't get along with slimming world but can't afford the weekly fee at the moment but i've seen the plan on ebay, what is confusing me is some seen to have more books than others. What books are actually in the pro points pack as I want to know im getting what I should and that I won't be missing any. thanks feline01 23-10-2011, 18:05 Hi, Does anyone have the recipe for the WW butter bean something!! and tarragon soup.
