what things do you treat yourself to or you just wont skimp on cheaper alternatives........

do you for example, have expensive beauty treatments, have a flash car, only wear designer clothes, go to the top hair salons, will only eat at top restaurants, only buy your food from M&S......have the latest phone, gadgets etc.

I dont mind having my hair done at the local salon, feel I get just as good a job as a high st one, drive an old focus, dont mind shopping at primark and matalan

one thing I wont skimp on is wine.....I work hard all week and feel I deserve a decent wine at the end of the week :D

as the saying goes 'lifes too short to drink cheap wine' :D

so what are your indulgences .............it could be anything :o

Expensive hi-fi.

Recently upgraped my pre- and power amps and bought an absolutely fantastic CD player, just under £500.

The smell of a brand new note pad! And the possibilities it brings with it

I will not skimp on food. This doesn't mean I always spend a fortune; (who doesn't love a plate of beans on toast now and again?), but I am a bit of a snob with regards to what I eat a lot of the time!

I definately skimp on clothes though-I'd rather have four cheap pairs of different boots then one expensive pair!

My Christmas luxury are good crackers...nice dinner ones with nice gifts inside. I look upon these as my special treat (to me)

I don't believe in cheap loo paper. I know it just goes down the loo but I think its false economy to buy cheap stuff. You use twice as much in the long run.

One of my fave pressie of last year is a padded, embroided notepad that I really wanted but decided I couldn't justify the price tag. OH came home with it a couple of days later. Writing stories has never been more enjoyable, and I'm sure they are better simply for having being written in such a beautiful book

Things that I do skimp on, is clothes. We have nicer stuff but I refuse to wear that on a day-to-day basis.

My slippers have to be proper sheepskin, I would rather buy really good shoes as seconds or second hand than buy ill fitting or unsupportive ones and I only buy one brand of washing powder as I know it doesn't cause my eczema to flare up.

I do like using nice toiletries and I have a bit of a perfume fetish (I've got about 140 bottles at the moment) but most of them are bought part used.

And I do like a really nice fountain pen, complete with my favourite violet ink, and of course a really good blotter to go with it (and some lovely paper, a beautiful folder in which to hold the paper, a pretty writing box to hold everything in...).

Coffee - I never buy instant coffee. If I couldn't afford ground coffee, or the pods for my Senseo machine, then I'd just drink tea or water instead.

Strawberry jam - I can remember my mum buying a disgusting "mixed fruit jam", which was basically apple pulp with flavouring and red colouring in it. If I can't afford Tiptree Strawberry, then I'd do without or buy a different flavour.

Bread - I wouldn't buy cheap sliced bread, because I just wouldn't eat it. But I quite often stock up on reduced "nice" bread from the supermarket and freeze it.

Pears soap - I don't quite know what I'd do if I couldn't afford it, though! :hihi:

Buy a Coffeeduck and then you can use your favourite espresso loose coffee in your Senseo machine, which gives you fab coffee (according to my OH, who is a Lavazza slave) at less cost per cup :)

I did think about getting one - but then decided it would be too much effort to clean it out every time I wanted a coffee. It's much easier just to dump the coffee pods in the bin.

Cheap mince also has a higher water content in. Beef mince tends to be much leaner than pork and lamb anyway, so fat content doesn't need to be high, in order to develop taste, some herbs, mustard and a bit of seasoning can go along way, but its nice to start with a proper mince. :)
