I have to buy a new Scart lead to connect my new Dvd player to the TV does any member know if purchasing a gold plated connector type really does give better results than just using a normal type as they are quite a lot more expensive to buy.
The old adage 'you get what you pay for' applies here. The gold connector type obviously will give better performance however you will not really notice much difference between it and a 'bog-standard' scart lead.

just make sure all pins are connected. some scarts dont have pin 28 active for some reason.
otherwise they all do the same job pal.

The gold plating reduces signal loss and does make a noticable difference if you have a decent (ie not cheap) tv and dvd player.

both our tv and dvd are sony, not cheap by any means, although sony aren't as good as they used to be imo.
and you cant tell the difference between the cheapo scart and the expensive one

The best scart connectors are the ones that don't fall out. Only the French could have designed such system
