And if so, are they any good? and is it possible to run it as well as
Sky +. The hard drive on sky + will only hold a few films and a few other recordings and then we are fighting for extra space. Does anyone out there have both and do they work well together?

I've got a Panasonic DVD with hard drive and it's a brilliant piece of kit. Don't have Sky though so I can't comment on that. The hard disk is great for editing. If you have a film with adverts etc that you want to keep you can snip out all the adverts and then copy to DVD-R. The edits are seamless and easy to perform. My model has a 40gig hard drive with handles about 17 hours at standard play (SP) but newer models have 80gig or larger.

Hi

Yes you should be able to use a DVD recorder in conjunction with your Sky+ box... at least my mum does, I set it all up for her... the only down side is that Box Office movies won't record, they encrypted or something and also dunno if you've noticed but they delete 24hrs after watching...

which my mum found really annoying "your brother watched this movie and now its gone! i wanted to finish watching it!"

pay £4 for a movie and cant even keep it to watch more than once or twice... rubbish...

anyways, you should be fine... just lots of fiddling with scart leads getting them in the right order

Why not change the hard drive in the sky+ box. I've heard you can swap it with a much larger one.

Take a look at

If you were to recommend a friend to Sky+ and think you can get an upgrade to the Sky+ 160gb version. I know my mate has done this and it's a free upgrade.

To answer your question though, yes it should work. Connect your sky+ box to your DVD recorder via scart, use your DVD recorder to select the AV channel that sky is on and use your DVD recorder to record it. Effectively your DVD recorder will just be recording the sky signal, you won't be able to do any fancy stuff like pausing live tv though.

hope this helps:confused:

yes thats correct, its the same if you want to do it with a video recorder too, you just record the signal coming into your recording device from the sky box, but you wont be able to change channels on the sky box whilst your doing this.

so if its something you wish to record, leave it recording during the times nobody is wanting to watch sky
