Well I say long live the Liverpool manager Hodgson as alltho I love to see English teams go well In Europe, I also get kicks out of watching teams who buy success fail and go through bad spells.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool have suffered of late, and bth have splashed the cash big time in recent years therefore it just goes to show that even a team of superstars can come a cropper, would like Man City to suffer again some time soon as they seem to be just abusing the game with their mass spending.

Credit to arsenal of late showing they can do well without mass spending over the last couple of years, instead they have nurtured most of what they already had and waited for them to come good.

I watched Liverpool last night and they were shocking.

I don't think that Abramovich will sack Ancelotti as he was the Russian's choice and he's worked hard to get him to the Bridge, so it's my guess that he'll be patient with Ancelotti for quite a bit longer.

Crystal Palace manager George Burley has been sacked after the club's 3-0 away defeat at Millwall.

Dougie Freedman has been appointed caretaker boss of a side that last won on 27 November and are second from bottom in the Championship table.

Burley was appointed Palace boss last June after the London club were bought by the CPFC 2010 consortium.

Former Scotland boss Burley, 54, has also had management spells at Ipswich, Derby County, Hearts and Southampton.

Burley succeeded Paul Hart after the club was saved from going bust by Steve Parish and Martin Long.

The new owners had sanctioned the signing of former Tottenham striker Steffen Iversen earlier on Saturday but ran out of patience after a dismal display against Millwall.

"We'd like to thank George for his dedication and hard work and share his regret that things didn't work out for him here," said Palace in a statement released on their website.

Burley is the third Championship manager to be dismissed this week following Preston's sacking of Darren Ferguson and the departure of Brian Laws from Burnley on 29 December.
