the power has just gone out in my flat. after looking at the fuse box, i went outside, and down to the bottom of my communal stairs where the main fuse boards are. the smell of weed is overwhelming, and there is graffitti everywhere. and would you believe it, the door to the leccy room was open, and the main switches had been tripped. i put them back on. now i'm back. the question is, what do i do about these little ****s (sorry mods for swearing) who are making lives a misery. the way things are, you can't do a damn thing.

Is this a council property or private?

it's council. we applied for a lock to go on th main access door, but because one resident, who to be honest isn't a full shilling, said no, we couldn't have it.

do they live in your building?

I take it there isn't a security entry system?

no, it's a group of local kids. the stairs are for access to 4 flats above 4 houses. there are 8 households this affects, and because of one person, we couldn't get a lock fitted. i'm going to the council again about it. see if we can get it done anyway.

Stuff the prat who said no. If you all club together for a yale lock and give the twerp a key, what can he do then?

Is he actually the drug dealer? is that why he said 'no'?

someone from another block took it upon himself , (with the agrement of most of the other residents) fitted their own yale lock. the council quickly came out and removed it. so not wasting money on it. i would have called the police out, but they will be too busy tonight to come out for his. so, tomorrrow, i will go around all the houses, andask again for the lock.

Mention the words 'Health and Safety risk' to the dim-bulbs at the Council.

They're then made aware of a risk to the lives of these little ****s. After all, if they can gain access to the fuse boards and throw switches, what else can they do in there?

Especially when on drugs?

That might make them move.

The council probablywon't do anything in case they are sued for taking away the little angels Human Rights to annoy others and kill themselves.

joe is right..explain to the council that should one of these druggies be killed then its due to the council negligence, especialy after bieng informed of the danger by your self,if that doesnt work, shame them by putting an open letter in the "star"

You could always speed things along by exposing a couple of the wires.

On the road where I live, the three blocks all have locks on the central staircases, which, as I understand it from a neighbour, were fitted by the Council after some burglaries quite some time ago.

What I have a bit of difficulty understanding is that the council fitted the same lock onto each door, so anyone who has a key has access to any of the three blocks.... Maybe it's just me, but I always assumed the idea of a lock and key is to keep out the people who shouldn't be there??!

the police are less bothered about people smoking cannabis (especially rude boys) with good reason - cannabis doesnt make people angry, aggresive, or cocky/arrogant

just stupid.

ring the council, and say that if something isnt helped quickly you'll fit your own lock on the leccy room

that'll probably speed 'em up.

the thing is, the leccy room has got a yale lock on it already. So, either someone left the door open, which i doubt, or somehow, people have got access to the key. either way, it was a stupid thing to do, and backs up your comment on them becoming stupid through cannabis. :loopy:

*shrug* what do you want the council to do, I'm not sure what you're saying really?

I mean, fit a nice fat padlock on it, and let the council deal with it if they want the key

(MWAHAHAHAHA)

fitting a lock to the door at bottom of stairwell would be a good start.

incidently, it would appear that they came back last night, and this time kicked the locked door in.

If the council don't budge, I'd suggest buying a bulk lot of padlock and keys, between the 7 of you residents. Just keep padlocking the door, and then after the council come to remove it, simply fit another one.

They will soon learn, after they've been out to remove the padlock a few times. They can't possibly win in this scenario.

the council have said that they will fit a yale lock to the main door to the stairwell, as long as everyone in block agrees to it. the arguement isn't really with the council. it's the people who are smoking the weed in our stairwell, and doing stupid things like turning off the electricity to the whole block at 11pm on a saturday night, when there are elderly people in the block who were sat in the pitch black until morning.
