In an article in todays local press it says that research carried out by Endsleigh Insurance Company states that Sheffield is one of the worst cities in the UK for both car theft and car accidents.

I could list at least 10 people I know who have been a victim of car theft over the last year or so. Seems pretty bad here.
I have lived in Sheffield for 33 years and i know of know one who's car has been broken into or stolen.
3 broken into
2 had centrecaps stolen from alloy wheels
1 stolen and used to play dogdems with
1 written off when a joyrider ran into me and legged it.
in 17 years, all in different areas of sheffield.

Had car stolen and torched from Whirlow Brook Hall on wedding day in 2001.
Had the radio/cd player stolen from my van - I didn't take the front off! They did a pretty neat job and I only had to have one of the front quarter windows replaced which ended up to be more expensive than the price of the radio! Apart from that never had any problems and don't know anyone else who has.

On average we have one incident per year.
Cars broken into. Radio/CDs stolen. Contents stolen. Damaged in attempt. Vandalism. Fuel lines cut.
They have never actually taken a car yet, though.
