View Full Version : My puppy has got BAD wind to say the least
littleboo 03-11-2005, 21:19 I have a west highland white Puppy - Angus.
He is gluten intolerant and has extremely bad wind!!! his diet consists of chicken and rice and pedigree rice based biscuits... all recommended by the vet.
apart form more air freshener and a cork any one got any suggestions??
I don't recommend the cork. You'll kill somebody!
Ever thought of writing Phillips on the side of him and using him as a hair dryer?
Isn't ANGUS an anagram of NU GAS?
littleboo 03-11-2005, 21:43 the thing is he insists on laying at my feet!! touched as I am that he wants to be this close to me after only a few weeks. I really could do with getting the smell from my nostrils for a few moments.
Your probably right about the cork though.
I'm not a Vet, but IMO I'd let him do one big massive fart to get rid of the wind.. Well that works for humans does it not?
littleboo 03-11-2005, 21:45 Thanks for that Rich, Where's the button ??
I'm not sure that I have that much (if any) control over him farting!!
Keep him away from the fire on bonfire night!!:gag:
I don't know which of these Angus can eat but here's a few ideas...
crushed fennel seeds - when he passes wind it won't smell as much - don't know how it works but apparently it does!
charcoal biscuits - obviously check them out see if he can eat them - but they're supposed to help too.
you can get a powder falled FART-EZE which might help if he can eat it - you sprinkle it on food.
Does he have milk at all - this can be a major cause of wind, not with all dogs, just some.
Hope this helps a bit...
Do you have another one called Dougal it's just that I was walking Takara through the park when we met two westies called Angus and Dougal - they were adorabubble and just wondered if that was you
:D
Moon Maiden 03-11-2005, 21:56 Burns Pet Food (http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk/store/erol.html#1x0&&blockedReferrer)
the food was developed by a vet and it is all digestable and in normal dogs cuts down on the waste and smells produced by a dog....
Give them a ring and ask for their advice on which food to pick for your dog.

littleboo 03-11-2005, 21:59 Thanks for that Lotti.
He doesn't have milk, so it can't be that, he cant have the charcoal biscuit as they are wheat based,
I might give the Fennel a whirl though!!
No It wasn't me who you saw, I just have the one, and with the smell he's making I think it's just as well!!!
Angus is only 13 weeks old, so not allowed out yet as he's only just had his second injection, He's allowed out next Saturday so if you smell anything or notice a smog cloud above Gleadless....................................
hehe - yes just realised after I'd posted that the westies I saw were older.
Takara's fully vaccinated so if Angus is a normal bouncy playful puppy and you want to socialise him with a crazy loonatic puppy let me know ;) Because she's fully vaccinated Angus can meet her.
Let me know how it goes with the fennel
Have you tried yogurt ? Works like human probiotics do - healthy gut flora and all that

Impacted anal wotsits sound nasty. Glad I dont have pets :gag:
Are you sure it's the dog and not someone else in the room trying to pass the blame? :gag:
dog farts are the best  always got that extra kick to them that i can only dream to achieve

Isn't fennel a diuritic (sp?)
We burn a candle near Brude when he kicks off.... Flames leap massively when they get fed by the gas :hihi:

don't know - but I am a member of a dog forum and someone said that's what they do so I just passed the message on...
You think yours is ripe.
My new pup wants Raking out with a Christmas tree.

roughy101 04-11-2005, 12:22 are you feeding him pedigree chum,i have a french bulldog and if he has chum he farts like mad:gag:
Ours eats normal things. Cabbage, Sprouts, Mushy peas, Currys just like us. No idea why she is so ripe.
u can get charcoal treats that aren't biscuits they do help. arrowroot biscuits also help with flatulence & the sloppy mess that can follow.

collectdogs 05-11-2005, 00:17 Hi
Had to pop in on this thread
Got 2 english bullies on the settee whistling and popping and snoring away. Just enough room for half a person only.
Check out our web site if you know of any nice homes looking for dogs or cats around the rotherham area.
We go to local pounds and get out some of the dogs - they are terribly stressful places - if only we could get more.
www rotherham-animals-in-need co.uk
email me from that site if you want any info:clap:

Does it work on humans Lotti?
Not for me, of course. Just asking for a friend.
Parp. Thrump. :suspect:
Can you sprinkle it in lager?
DragonofAna 05-11-2005, 13:29 My dog does not pass wind. On a slightly different topic - how come he drops parcels all over the garden? He goes to make a delivery and its a little bit here and a little bit there and a little bit over there.
Is this a thing with all dogs, border collies, or just my dog?
