Do you have the manual for the laptop?

If you do, have a look through it for any reference to re-setting the BIOS to a default/factory/safe state:).

Who's the bios manufacturer should be more important (there are some really cool tools available, that allow manipulation of many modern BIOS chipsets;)).

Depending on the model the security password may or may not be removable. Not much use having a security password if it is easily bypassed. Tell us more about the laptop and we might be able to help. As an example, some of the new Fusitsu Siemens Lifebooks need to go back to Germany if the password is lost.

I never set up a password on my IBM Thinkpad, but the default is to press the return key. Don't come back at me if you get locked out, though...... :(

I'd just try leaving it blank like Draggletail said. Another default one is Admin :)
