View Full Version : Curfews in S5! Whats happening??
I recently heard there was curfews in place in most of S5 after 9pm & things have been pretty quite for a few months However when I got off the bus @ 9.30 last night I was nearly run over by a speeding car with no lights & was told they had been racing all evening there were alson a group of youths smoking & drinking on the street corner!!
Can anyone tell me if the curfews in Wincobank have been lifted??

It was & for a while it was very quite after 9pm especially round Jedburgh Street.
It's more the joy riding & kids on motor bikes I am concerned about!
If anyone can shed light re curfew it would be helpful

Wincobank Ave is classed as Flower Est Shiregreen not Wincobank its self which is Fife Street area
Easy mistake to make :D
Still none the wiser about damn curfew though :(
I only posted cos I know there are a few forum peeps in the surrounding area
There was a curfew in parts of S4 late last year. Please see this Sheffield Star article for more details:
Crime blitz on the drug gangs (http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/viewarticle2.aspx?ArticleID=878703&SectionID=58&Search=Page%20Hall&Searchtype=any&SearchSection=58&DateFrom=102004&DateTo=112004&Page=1&ReturnPage=Results.aspx)
Parts of S4 were covered under a six-month dispersal order (the maximum limit allowed) during the hours of 9pm and 6am.
I'm sure this contributed to the weeks before last years' bonfire night being the quietest in years ;)
I don't know if another Dispersal Order is running this year, but it's been pretty quiet as well!

Cheers for that reading between the lines could mean Wincobank has expired :suspect:
Do u know if they will re enforce this at all?
fridgeman 03-11-2005, 12:57 oh no don't re-enforce it, that means i'll not be able to go in the southey club, bouncers on a sunday keep the riff raff out!
There is a curfew on Gregg House Road but the kids have ripped the notice of the lamp post

I'm not sure what's happening at Wincobank, but here's a Sheffield Star article from July this year:
Police zones remain in force (http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=58&ArticleID=1091769)
DISPERSAL zones across Sheffield will remain in place - despite a landmark ruling banning police from taking children home.
The city currently has three zones, Manor, The Moor and Wincobank which allow police to escort home any child under 16 who is out after 9pm without a responsible adult.
Searching the Sheffield Star website for the word 'dispersal' will bring up a lot more information.
EDIT - an article from last month mentions a curfew in Parson Cross and Ecclesfield!
Night curfew for children on estates (http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=58&ArticleID=1215748)
ROWDY youngsters will be cleared from the streets of two Sheffield suburbs - which residents say have become no-go zones after dark.
A curfew is to be introduced in Parson Cross and Ecclesfield next week as part of a crackdown on trouble in the run up to Bonfire Night.
