Hi, I'm interested in any advice on the possibility of moving to the States, in particular Orlando - obviously accommodation and job is a big issue, but what else is? I.e. legal issues, what I need to do etc...

How difficult is it to find employment, what is pay like in say a regular job (not a doctor or similar professional occupation).

Do I need to have saving? How long can I go for?

I would be planning on purchasing a home outright.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

It's very complicated. Most people go on an H1-B visa (Specialty occupation) which requires you to have a degree, or three years specialised training for each year of a degree (i.e. 9 years). You also must have a job offer before you can apply for the visa.

Other types of visa are for intra company transfers, investors etc.

Its a bit paradoxical,

you need a job to get a visa

and generally employers would quite like you to be sure you can get into the country when they give it you (cause they could just employ someone local)

so i guess its specialist jobs/shortage of local employees that warrant giving jobs to foreigners.
