I was gobsmacked when i went in HMV the other day to buy star wars 2 on video ,but to be greeted with `huh youll be lucky we are phasing out videos and only having DVD so you wont get it on video very easy`,
Before anyone askes i wanted a video for when i work in my loft as i dont have a DVD player YET but i think i will get one now.

They can indeed.
In fact I'm currently in the process of setting up a web site for a business venture I'm doing with someone else doing just that.
We'll be converting Cine, Beta, VHS, Hi8, MiniDV Tapes etc to DVD.

I'm sure you can find one locally who can do the job for you too.

buy a dvd recorder, setup with tv / video setup, play video, record onto dvd

once its on dvd you can rip it onto the computer and do whatever with it :)

I actually think VHS sounds better than DVDs (Not compressed nearly as much)

Its like when you record something on VHS @ the slowest speed,it doesnt sound nearly as good as if its recorded in Standard Speed......

You listen to a FULL ALBUM in ANALOUGE,then listen to it ON CD and you will see just how flat it is!!!

That all depends on what speaker set up you have. VHS recordings were Stereo, which when played through the TV only sounded great. DVD caters for the surround sound market, and through just a TV can sound flat.....but with a good kit sounds amazing.

Walking round twin oaks car boot last week a stallholder was trying to sell 2 large boxes of original vhs films for £1.50 nobody wanted to know, know how he feels Iv got a load sruck in the bedroom ,my own collection and some are listed on a rare video sight but I cant sell them on ebay or car boot, strange when videos first came out they held there prices for years yet dvd's can now be snatched up at a £1 a throw and they havnt been out all that long
