no, not literally :R (although with some of the shenanigens at that school, it would not surprise me!)

Apparently he has not been reappointed in the shake up that turns MS and Waltheof schools into new "City Academies".

He is said to be "dissapointed", according to the front page of the good old "Iron Bar" newspaper.

by the by, i was approached at the 51 bus stop by some mums asking me to sign thier petition to get him sacked. they were most perturbed when i refused, explaining my children dont go to that school, and as i hadnt got the full picture i felt it was unfair to put my name to something i didnt feel i could fully support.

they walked away, stunned into silence:D

of course it's the school's fault that a pupil thinks it's acceptable to slash a fellow pupil's face with a penil sharpener blade... nothing to do with the family of the child at all. I'm sure that if the head of my daughter's school wasn't so strict she'd be knifing the maths teacher with a set square every day.

the angry mob should look to the family of this thug for answers, teachers can only do so much to control little animals who have been brought up to think that this is an acceptable way to hehave.

Talk about a scape goat, what happened to the girl that slashed the face of her "classmate"?

Unfortunately this sort of situation with bullying/unruly kids in school is a common occurence. The staff can only legally do so much in school to deal with this, and usually without the help of the parents of the problem child. Usually the little devils who are bullies/unruly are that way because of lax parenting. We all know someone whose kids run riot at home and at school and in most cases the parents couldn't give a toss. As long as their little "darling" is not getting bullied/hurt then they really don't care. But let anyone chastise/bully their kids and they're off to claim "compo" for the trauma.
You couldn't pay me enough to consider taking up teaching as a profession.

Unfortunately, in public type organisations such as schools, police etc a blame tyep culture exists which means that when the proverbial hits the fan someone has to accept the blame. Although this was the attacker, blame still has to be attached to someone. If it's not the teacher, then it's the headteacher. If it's not the headtecher then it's someone at the LEA and so on. In this instance the chop has gone to the head teacher.

Although the attack is not cited as the reason, the organisational change has given them an easy scape-goat. Why spend the time sorting through countless investigations when they can pin it on one chap who has already failed to get his job back. Call me cynical but this is what i see IMO.

However, i will state that if the head teacher has failed to have the correct anti-Bullying procedures in place etc then it's only right he will get the hammer.

They aren't merging, but they are going to be owned by the same organisation.

He got axed? You would think they would be more careful at that school after that lass got knifed there.

Hope he is not seriously hurt.

ps. Its not that I did not read the first post - just that I did not know what literally meant until my sister told me.

the School has a massive problem with bullying, But the Head was trying to make the school in to a city academy, so ignored the reports of bullying to achieve this.

numerous Children were being kept away from school by parents as they were being bullied and the head did nothing!

It needs to be made clear that the headteacher had been turned down as head of the new academy two weeks before the attack happened.
However, I too have heard that there has been a culture of bullying in the school for some time - since it was put in special measures by inspectors years ago. Many pupils have been scared to go to school in this time. If the head, who has been there for about 8 years, has not been able to change this 'culture', then surely he has failed in some way. Maybe he is not the only one at fault but he is ultimately responsible for the atmosphere in the school.

I left Myrtle in '92. I was bullied more than most, and the staff did nothing - however on the occasions when I'd had enough and hit back it was ME who got threatened with expulsion.
Seems the place hasn't changed much.

as someone who has worked in more than a dozen schools, I can tell you that the culture of bullying is not simply a feature of failing schools - to varying degrees it is a feature of almost ALL schools.

I also agree that teachers and school staff are not entirely to blame for what is happening - there are a complex range of factors.

Maybe the head has failed in his own duties / responsibilities but the issue is far greater than one person - or one act of violence.

Me and My best friend went to MS and the bullying is disgusting there. My mate was off school for a whole year because of some little sh**head and they didi absolutely nothing eventhe authorities wouldnt let her move school. The current head was mine too and I never saw him out of his office.

well part of the problem some heads face is they have so much paper work etc that they cannot leave the office.

thats why some schools are now appointing business admin managers as their main person...
