We used to do similar for a charity at a place I once worked. A colleague used to take them to the charity in mid-Dec. And it was actually lovely to add 'make a box' on my Christmas list of pressie buying.

But the best part was putting them under the tree at work and seeing the pile of boxes get higher throughout Dec.

Ahhh - I am getting all sentimental about Xmas when I need to be working on being Halloween fightening.

I can do that, a shoe box is not hard to fill.

I'm going to do it. One for a boy and one for a girl. :) Thanks for this, Joe.

It's a fantastic idea but I'm sure this could have been written a little better:
This annual project enables caring individuals, families, schools, churches, businesses, and other organisations to fill ordinary shoe boxes with small toys, school supplies, sweets, and other gifts for hurting children around the world.
Why would people want to give gifts to hurt children, it's a bit sadistic isn't it?

I know how it's mean to read obviously, but I surely someone must proof read these sites?

I do this every year and it really brings me down to earth with a bump.

I set aside an evening to make the box look as nice as I can then I fill with little goodies and treats that I have been collecting.

To think that a shoebox like this can mean the whole world to some children really puts our over indulgence into perspective. It's good for our kids too so that they can see how imbalanced the world is.

Thanks for finding this Joe.

I found this site really humbling. I'll definately fill a couple of boxes and send them off; I'll also e-mail this into work to see if I can get something organised there.

Maybe some others could do the same? :)

Hi Kristian,

I found it because someone in the organisation I'm working for at the moment is running a collection in the office!

It just seemed a nice idea!

Now, as somene who buys shoes only when the soles are falling off the old pair, where did I put those shoe boxes!!

Go into any shoe shop and tell them why you want them. Chances are they will have a pile in the back, otherwise they will gladly save you some.
