You mean old "Sweet-Cheeks" himself?

I've listened to him a few times and considering the quality of the communication skills of many of the punters who 'phone in, his damage-limitation skills are quite impressive at times.

Arousing listener-interest in a conversation that begins, "Hello Nick, I'm just calling to say that me and my mate here, think that you're a !*$%", can't be easy.

He has my sympathy, though he won't rate my full attention until he introduces a preliminary IQ test for would-be callers - Anyone scoring a number below their shoe-size automatically getting the engaged-tone. ;)

got to go for Virgin they play a good mix of decent music from the 60s to present day, no boy/girl bands or R&B just proper musicial talent (for the most part) also they have some really good giveaway prizes like trips to Oz to see bands or festival tickets etc

I'm disgusted with myself, but it's probably Radio 2.

I love radio in theory, but in practice hate most of it...

Radio 2: 90% ****e
Radio 1: 95% ****e
BBC local radio: 97% ****e
Commercial local radio: 99.9% ****e

Radio 1 only scores so 'highly' because of Zane Lowe. I really like the music he plays, although I cringe whenever he talks.

A typical weekday would see me listening to:-

night till 6.30 - probably Magic AM or PrimeTime
6.30 - 7.00 - Radio 2 (for the Morning Newspapers)

It's usually a CD in the car on the way to work.

8 till 9 - either Classic FM, Magic AM, PrimeTime, occasionally Radio 4 or rarely, Radio 2

9 till 10 - Usually Heart or, if they're playing a year from the 1990s, revert to predictable Real Radio. If no good, play safe with Classic FM.

10 till 11 - Radio Hallam or Magic. Sometimes Radio 2.

11 till 12 - Classic FM

Lunch break.

Afternoon:- from around 2 it's usually Radio 2.

Bedtime: if in bed by 10 (usually), Capital Life, till 11.

Then through the night, Magic, Primetime or Radio 2.

I read the title of this thread and though to myself I hope no one puts the evil that is Hallam FM down. Lo and behold the thread starter! I suppose I should not be surprised after reading the road kill thread!

I don't listen to much radio now cos most of it does me' head in!
If i do listen to anything I catch 1Xtra while I'm at work. I'd rather be the DJ and pick my own songs to listen to (cd's & mp3s)

I can't believe there's no other Radio 4 devotees on this forum.

Also Radio 3 or Radio 2 now and again. Used to listen to Classic FM but now switch over as soon as the adverts come on.

If you want to have your own online radio station, go on Shoutcast.com (http://www.shoutcast.com) and download the plugin for Winamp, or if you can afford it buy a Shoutcast server and you can then host your own online radio station like one of our very own users Phanerothyme does with his Phan FM (Click the link in his sig when he posts, or look in his profile)

Radio 5 wakes me up in the morning. Simon Mayo's show is good, particularly on Friday when Mark Kermode does his film reviews. As for five's presenters. Julien Worricker is excellent, while Victoria Derbyshire is dreadful.

I also listen to Radio 4, and to Radio 7 (on the computer) for the comedy and drama repeats.

CLASSIC FM

Late Night Lisa

There's also a very weird thing they do about 2am on Friday called ''The Chiller Cabinet'' where they play really modern spooky sampled noises /classical/ instrumental/ vocal mish mash's.

Verrry strange to fall asleep to :o

The adverts really hack me off sadly

I love the Arrow, Planet Rock, and Classic Gold but I guess I am showing my age.
Virgin OK sometimes but I find the endless James Blunt, Oasis and Kaiser Chiefs tedious. Does Virgin manage these people?

I don’t really agree with your taste of music, but I like your style. Music to match your mood and not just a case of turn the radio on and listen to what ever is churned out

Another fan of www.kcrw.com here;

The "Morning becomes eclectic" show is excellent, particularly the extraordinary range of studio sessions which have been archived over the years. This has brought to my ears a lot of great new music.

Also enjoy Robert Elms on BBC London , he's on weekdays from 12-3 with intelligent conversation and a wide but always entertaining range of soul/funk/jazz/americana and oldies. Well worth investigation for those of us who can listen while we work.
