Peter Thornton has had a facinating working life, being integral to the growth of one of the most famous family businesses in the country - Thornton's Chocolates.
Peter now 74 , will pass on his experience and reveal some of what it takes to run a business all about chocolate…
Within the company, Peter occupied almost every management role during his 35 years with the business, including company Chairman.
Thorntons – My Life in the Family Business is his first book, which he has wanted to write for years.
He hopes that it will provide a cautionary tale for others in or thinking of starting a family-run business. The book details how even within a successful company, destructive family relationships can destroy lives.
Since leaving Thornton’s in 1987, Peter invested in, start-up, managed and developed small businesses and carried out consultancy.
At the present time he is involved in launching two new businesses, together with colleagues and additionally intends to develop his business consultancy work particularly helping client businesses at a high level with problem solving and strategic direction.
